@Sprig Ah Corvette stories. In my youth in has a 66. 427 425hp Vette. Going to get gas one Synday morning and I floored it going up the 4 lane road to the station. I was in there about 30 seconds when the police car arrived. He told me his car could do 120 MPH and I lost him. So lucky I only received a warning. Wish I still had the car but I know I probably could not get in or out of it, so low to the ground.

Good morning. Wife wants me to start to cook on the grills again. Thinking of cooking a chicken this Saturday.

Good morning, all. Off to a local foot, ankle doctor this am. Wife has an appointment. Lower leg is swelled up, painful. Hope she can get some help, not just more pills. Looks like (to me), it could be her achilleas tendon? Seems like one thing after another, at our age. She made a large roast yesterday, heavy, and on her feet a lot. I did most of the heavy lifting, but still a lot of work. Then, there's the cleanup. Took all day, but it sure is yummy!

:pccoffee:  sixtys/wannabes/scofflaws. Highway speed limit is STILL 55 in a lot of places within the east coast megalopolis. Actual average speed is in the 70's.

Speaking of mis-spent youth; by the time I was driving I had moved out of my drag race/hot rod cravings and into wanting to be a Formula 1 driver. We drove small underpowered cars far too quickly around corners instead of flat out on straights. Crashed a few times, have a bent nose to show for it. We also did crazy stuff like taking the spare tire out of the tire well, pulling the drain plug out of said well, and filling it with ice and beer. Then driving around on dark country lanes half the night. I got a couple of tickets back then but they were more for running stop signs and so on. It's a wonder I survived it.

Back to being an antique. @06Tacooo we use lidocaine pads for the kinds of pain you are talking about. Salonpas is one brand. They work pretty well and would last overnight for you. Just don't let our friend Jackie pick them up for you; we asked her to get us some and she came back from Sam's Club with 120 of them! Our kids will find those when they clean out the house after we're gone. o_O

What great cartoon... Maybe they should use 4WD instead of 4x4? LOL

Some fun ticketing stories posted since yesterday!

Today, back to the tax person to finalize the deal. Looking forward to ending this annual routine (at least for us drawing Social Security)!

    Happy Wednesday Morning:hattip:

Been taking a break while on our winter vacation. Been keeping up with everything so far, but only 13 more days before I return to reality ( and filing income tax ). Went to my favorite place on the Island, Fat Tonys for St. Patrick's Day Guiness and corn beef and cabbage. It was party central and crowded with a lot of green. Then last nite went to the Tuesday night Carnival parade. Had ribs and potato salad for dinner and flirted a bit with the girls :D. So alas starting to wind down :(

I have a couple of ticketing stories which are entertaining; here is one...

Back in 1978 when I lived in Spring Valley, CA, I spotted a 1970 Challenger being sold by a local service station on a "Mechanic's Lien" and told a friend about it. He really liked my 1970 Challenger SE, but he was unable to drive a manual transmission, so this one was perfect, a 383 4BBL with a Torqueflight. He jumped on it as the price was dirt cheap (like $700 if memory serves), and we drove it over to my place to give it a once-over. First order of business, the left motor mount had snapped, so when you nailed the skinny pedal, the engine would bounce up off its mount and then slam back down when you'd back off.

I replaced the motor mount, changed the oil, tuned up the engine with new plugs, condenser, points, distributor cap, and plug wires, and decided to take it out for a test drive. No sooner had I pulled out onto Sweetwater Springs Road, a 340 Duster pulled up next to us bugging for a race. We turned into an area where roads had been cut for a subdivision, but no homes had yet been built, and off we went. The Duster dusted us. I happened to glance to my right just as a police officer was rolling to a stop at one of the cross streets, and immediately shut it down; the Duster kept going.

The officer, a young man of Japanese heritage, pulled me over and asked me to get out of the car, but held up his hand to indicate I should keep my mouth shut while he walked around the car taking notes. So there I was, standing behind the Challenger wearing one of my USMC tee-shirts, my utility bottoms, and bare feet. My Driver's License was in my car a mile away, the Challenger had only been purchased a few hours before and was showing expired Oregon plates, no registration, no insurance, three out of four bald tires, the radiator had sprung a leak in the race, and then there was the race itself. He said, "So, I can get you for Excessive Acceleration, Speed Contest, Reckless Driving, Excessive Smoke (steam from the radiator), Bald Tires, no Registration, no valid License Plates, no Insurance, no Driver's License, and not wearing any Shoes."

Hell, I didn't even know it was illegal to drive a car in California without shoes on. I asked, "So, what are my options?"

The officer said, "Well, I gotta get you for not having your Driver's License on you."

    I said, "Okay!"

He then thanked me for being contrite and ticketed me for no license; he then painted a big smile on his face and told me he had a GTX at home and liked to mess about a bit too. He also told me the person he pulled over immediately before me was a retired San Diego Police Officer who got overly nasty toward him, telling him "A Jap has no right being an officer in MY country and therefore you have no right to pull me over and give me a ticket." Yeah, he got a ticket, probably more than one.
