Good place to strap the AR cases on. The ammo throws off the balance though.

Mods? We don't need no stinking mods.
I'm sure aftermarket sunroof technology has improved over the past 40 years. But I'm still stuck in the 80s when an aftermarket sunroof was 100% guaranteed to leak.

I wouldn't have an aftermarket sunroof installed in a vehicle even if it was free.

Yeah I remember those days but there are some shops still are still around to install sunroof for customers.

@gumbine, If you want sunroof, then why you bought a truck without sunroof in the first place? Not making sense. If you have warranty, I suggest that you don't need a sunroof until warranty expires. Otherwise Toyota refuses to cover any warranty claims. I don't know if dealer has kits to be installed but it has to be done at the factory. Aftermarket kits require to cut the structures and moving the wires around, other things before sunroof to be placed in. It could be pricey such as roof restructure, headliner modification, electrical wire arrangement, etc.

Call the shops in your area and see if they have sunroof they could add for you and see how much they would do it for you.

Just look at how many TSBs exist for sunroof problems.

Ford, Audi/VW/Porsche, Hyundai, Land Rover, TOYOTA, Acura, Mercedes, Nissan, GM... all of them.

Ukraine and drones can pop you a sunroof hole in a millisecond.

To add.........the rest of the truck might leak if you use this method.

I’ve owned numerous vehicles with factory-installed sunroofs and had zero problems regarding water intrusion or otherwise. ’86 Volvo 240, ’88 Accord, ’96Acura TL, ’12 Honda Odyssey, ’15 Lexus LX 570, etc.

They do have drain lines that can get clogged if parked outside in a debris-heavy environment, so maybe that’s where many of the “leakage” problems arise.

OP, if you're still around...yes it can and has been done. Search "tacomaworld aftermarket sunroof" and you'll get some hits and even some people with actual experiences they share.

Webasto is an OEM supplier of sunroofs. They have installers peppered across the nation, probably your best shot here. This is something that is going to rely heavily on the quality of installation so definitely not something to take lightly however, make sure you vet the shop and get any sort of warranties and such in writing.

    https://my.webasto.net/en/sa/dealerlocator

Sunroof was literally the only thing I really enjoyed about my 3rd gen, so I have looked in to this for my 2nd gen and am loosely planning on having one installed. I've had cars with them before that I was indifferent on because they were so far back on the roof so effectively all they did was eat headroom, but the one on my '22 was actually well placed and big enough to enjoy.

I was ballparked around $2500 for frame of reference, and I personally think it would be worth it. I may pull the trigger this year..
