Not sure what came over me, but I suddenly felt the urge to be productive today.

Got done drawing up and cutting out some rear bed shock covers for a buddy's solid axle 1st gen

    20250319_130001.jpg

Along with some bed stiffeners for a recent order

    20250319_132319.jpg

Along with drawing up and cutting out the metal seat mount for the stool

    20250319_132358.jpg

The rear piece I'm holding is just a mock-up. Need the wood panel to arrive so I can finish up the rear

been watching the movie Only The Brave on my lunch break the last few days, about the Granite Mountain hotshot firefighting crew where 19 out of 20 them died fighting a wildfire in AZ in 2013. Finished it today....now my eyes are all wet and I don't know why wtf.

jesus is the intake facing 2 inches off the ground or what, how do all those pebbles get in there (assuming that's what they are).

I've only ever been hit in the head without a puck once and it was a roller hockey puck, quite a bit lighter than a frozen vulcanized rubber ice hockey puck. Still hurt like hell but having been bruised by many an ice hockey puck with padding on, I can't imagine taking one to the face

one guy on our beer league team played with only a half visor (never understand why people outside of pro leagues do that), took a shot to the mouth and lost several teeth and had a big pressure cut going halfway up his cheek that needed stitching.

The fire in the opening scene of that movie got within like 1/4 mile of my families house growing up. Still can remember my Dad standing on our wood shingle roof with a hose while we packed up to evacuate.
That fire also took out the largest recorded saguaro, was like 45 ft tall

The Yarnell fire though, so sad
They've got a pretty cool memorial up there now

Yup. wildfire is scary enough but throw high, unpredictable winds into the equation and all bets are off.

People who use standard fasteners in products that are designed markets that use metric fasteners are the worst kind of lazy or stubborn or whatever it is.

1up bike racks are at the top of my list of offenders. https://1up-usa.com/

Any Tacoma accessory that uses standard hardware is right there too.

I know you're just making a shop stool, but thanks for doing it right.

huh, I guess just being lower to the ground and having it right behind the grill makes sense it picks up more debris. I get a lot of bugs in mine thanks to the snorkel

Just remove the airbox and put a turbo on it. I hardly get any bugs through the snorkel on my taco now haha

Appreciate you noticing the small details!

I know I've gone overkill with this thing as far as how it's welded together and the thickness I used, but generally speaking, a stool you're sitting on that breaks while in the shop can lead to a nasty injury or even death depending on what you're doing.

    20250319_134008.jpg

No use taking any risks when it's unnecessary :notsure:

As for that link, looks like they just use rubber/plastic spacers for everything?
