Respectfully disagree. I too, don't carry with a round chambered.

IMO, I believe in practicing how you normally carry and what staus your firearm is in. If you practice without a round chambered, it will become muscle memory to chamber a round as first action.

I'm not a LEO though so my chance of needing to pull my firearm is low. I also prefer the added safety of when my firearms are locked in their safe.

You realize you may not always have the free use of both hands when you need to draw? I do train to access my pistol from concealment and add a ridiculous amount of time to chamber, get on target and place accurate rounds on target one handed because I have a slide mounted optic I can use to rack the slide...but why?

All in the name of safety because you're not confident in your training and weapons handling?

I believe it's called Israeli carry. And to clarify you want your guns to be "extra safe" when they are locked in a safe?

I didn't put a hole in the roof, but I did leave a crease in the roof of a 1973 Chevelle. I was checking the zero before hunting season and used the roof of the car as a rest. The bullet didn't touch the car, but the shockwave of it passing an inch or so above the sheet metal left a 3' long crease in it.

It's legal to have a loaded firearm (ccw excluded) in the vehicle during coyote hunting season?

I knew this was going to devolve into a "carry chambered versus not" discussion. For the record, my EDC has a manual safety switch so I carry chambered with the safety on. And I check the safety every morning when I holster the weapon. Be safe out there people.

I dont have any diagrams or anything but seeing that foil tape in the wire sheathing makes me think that wire might be for shielding. It is called the "Drain Wire" here. That wire really shouldn't be needed and it most likely for the bluetooth mic. That being said it should run the length of the wire so the other end is probably further inside the sheathing and it just broke and pulled out. Same could be true for the dome like wires, a break further up the wire. You did check fuses right? That was a direct short and when you opened the door it probably popped the fuse

Well, for me, my firearms are mostly for recreational range time but also home defense. I know most will say I will not be able to load and fire an accurate round if a home invader breaks in, but I prefer the added safety, in my bedside safe or not, I don't keep a round chambered.

The situation in the op would have been avoided if a round was not chambered. Hunting coyotes would not be a reason to have a firearm always loaded.
