I have pretty much the same spec wheel as you and I fit a 255/80/17 Wildpeak at4w with a cmc and minor liner trimming

    I leave mine @ 32 psi.

In the winter they stay around 31-32, but in the summer they raise sometimes to 37 psi (on their own) from the heat. This is with 33" E load At3 Wildpeaks. As much as I like my Wildpeaks, I only wish Duratracs came in that size, as they were my fav A/T tire, @ 32" 265/75/16 C Load.

Regardless, no cmc, trimming, nor removal of my oem mudflaps were required with my +4 offset knockoff TRD rims.

Will 255/80/17 work with any of these wheel offset with the Trd lift? Preferably no cut and keep my mud flapsIMG_0428.png

Positive offset should work fine. Negative will be a no go

I run 255/70/18 with 0 offset. Tire barely clears the factory UCA. Positive offset would be no-go.

Has anybody went from 285 to 255's? I know that the e rated 255's weigh the same as my 285's, but I was hoping for better "driveability" with the smaller contact patch.

I’m planning on going to a 255/80-17 with a two inch lift and a zero offset wheel and thought that should clear just fine but after reading this am I understanding that it might not ?

Most likely will get a bit of rubbing, at least I did with this tire size and 0 offset. It's not much and I am clearing the cab mount with essentially a pinch weld mod and a little chopping.

Pics of my rubbing here. The result of my C4 fender liner install here which has seemed to solved the rubbing.

If you are just on road driving it's fine unless you go crashing into some bumps when turning.

Hmm I wonder if there is a better offset to purchase in wheels before I buy them I thought 0 offset were the best avenue to go to have the least amount of rubbing issues.

I went from 255s to 285s. I find the 255s darted into the cracks and road crown when passing vehicles much more noticeably then 285s. Though my 255s were yoko g003s and they run very narrow.

None yet added some things. Still contemplating if I should get a small lift. I want to take it out on more trips with a skid plate and see how it does.
    what offset?

Do you have a 3rd or 4th gen....if 4th gen you would need the +20 offset if you are thinking about keeping mudflaps.....

you should be okay, have whomever does your alignment use the factory alignment adjustments to move the wheel forward in the wheel well. The new control arm will cause the wheel to move backwards increasing the amount of positive caster (helps truck track better).

You may still be okay on the mud flaps, it’s when people add aftermarket non adjustable control arms that seem to have the most problems… because they push the wheel back towards the cab, also causing them to remove mud flaps and do the BMC (body mount chop) to get clearances. I ran SPC and they are very adjustable.

What’s up guys, new guy here. Just bought a 23 TRD Off road. I have the Eibach Stage 2r lift, Icon AAL and JBA UCA. I bought 17x8.5 -12 offset and I’m getting ready to slap tires… but I’ve been going down the rabbit hole lol.. I originally wanted to go with 275/70/17 but now I’m really considering the 255/75s. I have the CMC plates ready incase I do need to trim. Mostly doing camping/hunting. My question is will the 255 e load be ok with, bed rack, decked drawer, awning and maybe rear bumper w/ swing out? Sorry if it’s a dumb question, this is my first truck lol. Just want it get it right

If you’re able to get a good alignment shop to add enough caster to get away from the cab mount you may be able to pull it off. You’ll definitely need the cmc along hammering the pinch weld and some plastic trimming. The -12 offset is tough, I had trouble with 0. I also have the 2r with JBA uca’s.
