Follow up question: how many folks have a first aid kit in the vehicle, reachable from the driver's position with one hand, and it contains a chest seal/ tourniquet?

If we're gonna train for the shit, I figure we gotta train for what happens immediately after shit happens. :cookiemonster:

I train to avoid situations where I'm getting ambushed while seated in my vehicle. Alone.

Same goes for ND's. Don't diddle your weapon and it'll be just fine.

A few additions to make me feel cool.
In view it the same as I did in a combat zone. The threat level matches my posture. Outside the wire where contact is likely. Condition 1. Inside the wire where contact is less than likely, condition 3. Around where I live is equal to living on base not deployed. Guns locked up at home in the safe. Lol…
These days if I get the feeling I might need a firearm I generally just don’t do that thing.

The good news is if you're ever wrong you can just calmly tell the person pointing a gun at you that you didn't think you would need a gun today. I'm sure they would understand and leave you alone.

The truck is easy, I have mine mounted in the pass footwell. It can be grabbed and pulled in one motion. The little car, notsomuch. Yesterday the emissions inspector wanted a paper copy of my insurance. That of course was in the little owner's-manual satchel, which was stuffed behind the bandaid-and-aspirin kit, which was behind the trauma kit.

If I ever get pulled over its going to look like a yard sale.

Before I read any further, I'm guessing this is where it turns into a "manual safety vs. da/sa, de-cocker, trigger safety" thread.

Not a far journey from where it began... a safety disengaged, no trigger guard, ND thread.

there is a lot of contradictory statements hanging out in a whopping 3 sentences. First, you brush it off with the attitude "It's just a 22, no big deal", which flies directly in the Face of the claim that you respect them. Then it's "I'm comfortable", "I know what I'm doing", which should read "I am complacent because my inattention has never caused anyone harm before". "Accidents can still happen" and "Safety Protocols are compromised" are just you deflecting responsibility and accountability for treating your weapon like a toy, keeping it in service despite needed repair. This was not accidental, it was negligent, the trigger was pulled and a round was discharged, that's how the gun works. Safety protocols were not compromised, they were blatantly ignored, by you. Fortunately, the only harm done in this case was to your truck. This could have easily been way worse. Glad that you are OK, but take a step back and re-evaluate the basics of what you are doing.

TL;DR: Stop treating yourself like a child and get your shit together.

and just to clarify, Manual Safeties on pistols are lame as hell, anything other than a P320 in a good holster is safe.

Great job discrediting your entire argument in your first two sentences by “QUOTING” words that you made up. LOL. I said it was a .22 LR, clarifying the specific gun. Not brushing anything off? If you’re going to use “ “, at least use my actual words. A .22 can be as deadly as any other gun. Yes, the trigger guard needed repair, THEREFORE the safety protocol was COMPROMISED. I chose to ignore it and I paid the price. There is nothing contradictory with anything that I said. I didn’t shoot my roof on purpose, that’s absolutely an accident. If you just want to rant about gun owners, go to the Prius threads.

I said you brushed it off with the attitude of "It's just a 22...", the words in the quotes here describe the attitude, I guess your reading comprehension is worse than your common sense.

The safety protocols aren't the issue, you are, that is not accidental, that is negligence.

I was polite before, but honestly you seem like a fucking idiot.

If it wasn't for dipshits like you, I wouldn't get a useless cable lock with every firearm I purchase.

Typically the ground wire must be grounded to the structure or what comes closest to simulating the structure of the truck before the lamp will light up.

Welp, I for one can't believe it took 12 pages to go off the rails..

I now stand firmly behind my earlier decision not to mention the .40 hole in my kitchen island..
