    Appreciate your early review of the Timbren SES.
    Your report was very helpful to read.

    Curious... would you have preferred airbags instead of the Timbren if airbags were available for your truck??
    I am still trying to decide between the two options.

    I'm not sure yet. I'm not an airbag expert. I think if I was going to have the Kimbo off the truck a lot of the time, then I'd prefer airbags so I could adjust the suspension and make it more comfortable when payload is small to none. But, I've never had airbags before on any of my Tacos so I'm not sure how much difference they make. Plus, I'm not sure how much of a pain it is to manually adjust airbags. I have seen on various youtube videos that the off road/overlander/rock crawler crowd does it a lot based on terrain. I plan to have the Kimbo loaded on the Taco 90% of the time, so the Timbrens seem like the easy solution... i.e., nothing to adjust.

    I have the Loadlifter 5000 Ultimate (it has a internal jounce bumper on my 23 Tundra). I look's like both Airlift and Firestone have Airbag kits available for the new gen Tacomas which I will be putting on mine when it arrives.
    When my Kimbo is loaded on my Tundra it's super easy to just add air to both air bags to get the truck leveled out. And then to decrease the air down to 5 psi when the camper is off for a stock/softer ride. Hopefully Airlift will make the Ultimate version for the Tacoma as well.

    I've been running the Toyo AT3's since I got my Kimbo. I made that choice due to the weight of the others as you mentioned too. They've been great and no issues. Have had them in all conditions too. I did finally go to a dedicated winter E-rated tire this winter though. With the Kimbo weight, the Toyo's did perform well in snow and ice.

    Great to hear that you have had a lot of success with the Toyo AT3.
    I did decide to get the Toyo AT3 as well and will have them mounted before heading out to WA to pickup my Kimbo.
    Overall I think the Toyo are a great choice to pair up with the camper.

    Hi all,

    I have started looking into buying a cordless drill to use with the Kimbo jack stands.
    Admittedly, I know absolutely nothing about cordless drills haha.

    Wondering if there are any specific requirements that I should be looking for when it comes to the drill selection??
    Max torque, chuck size, max speed, etc??

    If anyone has a recommendation for a good drill that they have used successfully with the Kimbo jack stands i would appreciate it.

    You don't need anything fancy for a drill... I just use a Milwaukee. It still takes forever haha.

    I have AirLift 5000s installed on my Tacoma and they work really well. No internal jounce but as long as you have at least 5psi in them you shouldn’t bottom out, and obviously you would have more air in for heavy loads. Easy driveway install in a couple of hours with a hydraulic jack and jack stands.

    adjustment is really easy - I just use a battery powered inflator. You can add an airlift dual inflator, that lets you inflate or deflate from the cab and has a gauge for each side. I haven’t bought one though because they cost a few hundred dollars and so far the portable inflator works fine for me, but I will likely get one at some point.

    I just use a bike pump and it only takes 4 or 5 pumps to get to to 30psi. At that pressure when I load the Kimbo on it does not budge. Handles great as well.

    Looks like Home Depot has some Milwaukee drills on sale.
    I will probably get one of them.

    Hi all,

    I have a 2nd generation Tacoma (4.0, V6, automatic) and am curious about the best gear selection to use when driving with the Kimbo loaded in the truck bed...

    Is it best to drive with the gear selector in "D" or in "4"??

    When I towed a Uhaul trailer cross country I always drove in "4" to avoid the overdrive.

    Thinking it might be best to drive in "4" with the Kimbo as well (to avoid the overdrive) but wanted to check to be sure.

    Hey all - I'm back. :)

    I sold my 2016 with a GFC (I had the first one in Canada!). I loved it but it just didn't work for skiing with my 14 year old son.

    I bought a small RV and a Pajero.

    Both are awesome but I have decided that I really need 4x4. I've been poking around a lot and think I'm moving towards at 4th gen and a Kimbo. I would go back to 3rd gen but with resale prices I might as well buy a new truck.

    I have a buddy with a Kimbo and he loves it.

    A couple of questions for the hive mind of those who have done it.

    1- Kimbo says 5' bed is ok. Is that really the case or do I want to get a 6' bed? I kind of prefer a 6' bed in general but would love to get a manual tranny. I'm not married to that idea but it's a 'nice to have'.

    2- How is storage? I ski, hunt, fish - so you find that there are a lot of accessories. I figure I'll do the under tray but any thoughts?

    3) Sport or OR? Maybe I should post this question in the general forum and get flamed by the retards. :) I would love a locker - I've only needed one a couple of times but it sure would have been nice. Maybe I get a winch instead.

    Anyway, since this will need to be bagged (can't just put OME on it like I did my last one with the new rear suspension) - is there any sense in going with the OR vs the Sport?

    4) How is power? My 2016 wasn't exactly a dog - but it certainly wasn't a race car either.

    5) Is it pretty easy to remove the Kimbo and put it back on when I want to use the truck as a truck?

    I have considered a Tundra but that's a lot of truck for daily driving. And, it seems that folks generally prefer the taco over it's larger brother.

    I'm pretty sure I'll be joining the kimbo cult soon...

    Hi aarcarr,

    Here is what I found on my phone. I still have the setup and it works quite well. I used the mounting bracket that Joolca sells with their setup so that if the heating unit stops working I can swap out the heater without replacing the bracket which is what mounts to the Kimbo. The heater is located in the lower left of the pelican box and then I bought some plumbing elbows and got the pump to fit next to it, very tight fit. I can keep the hoses inside the pelican box I mounted. I cut a rectangle out of the back of the pelican box so the Joolca bracket mounted directly to the Kimbo exoskeleton. I'm able to fit 5 gallon water jugs under the shower. The whole thing works great. If I am being picky I wish the Joolca pump was a bit more powerful, but its more than sufficient for a great hot shower.

    I think the general consensus is driving in "4" with the Kimbo - overdrive while hauling is a sure way to the transmission shop.
