I undid all the conduit and inspected each wire:duh: so, it's gonna be a minute. Gotta pickup some new conduit and make it look pretty.

No change. I did get misfire codes on cylinders 3 & 5 so I swapped 1 & 3. Misfire error went away just dies like before.

Have we done a compression test yet?
I'm starting to wonder if we even have a good engine at this point.

That connector looks like it has overheated. The pins (metal terminals) in there loose their temper, if overheated, and make a bad connection. Or a bad connection, can be the cause of the heat, that slowly self destructs. Might be worth checking that connector, and any others that you see with heat stress.

I'm not really sure what to think at this point, with the OP having such limited test equipment we're about out of things we can check.

A good diag guy with an oscilloscope and the right test equipment most likely could have this figured out in under an hour.

I think that's the connector for the engine noise monitor? Either way, I dug through the entire harness checking each wire. I did find some minor heat damage on the #1 injector. I ended up repairing with heat electrical tape and replaced the sleeve.

I have pro coming by to look at it. I'm thinking of picking up a loaner compression tester if the mechanic doesn't have one. You all are correct, I have limited testing tools.

I think I've eliminated everything I can except for a vacuum leak. I keep hearing a sucking sound coming from the brake booster hose. I've check the hose for cracks with none being discovered.

The brake booster could be leaking internally. You could easily cap the intake manifold port going to it, and try again.

When I got it back, it was just capped. I can try it again, however, I think it’s just a symptom rather than a cause

True, but your other hoses were routed improperly. Thus you fixed one problem by correcting all of the vacuum routings but may have induced another.

Today I removed both catalytic converters to check for plugs. None was found. I also ran compression checks on all six cylinders.

Cylinders are healthy. I imagine that you already knocked the reat of that crap out by the time of this reply though, correct?

I just built an exhaust for a friend's truck. Post headers back. He had the idea that the cats were clogged and blocking his exhaust. Ends up that the muffler is where the blown cat material was bouncing around and causing the occasional blockage.

That cat looks pooched, if that stuff went into the downstream cat then it's probably plugged.

Definitely makes sense, but would it plug enough to make the engine stall on idle, and counter to this being the problem, the OP said he can keep it running a bit longer if he revs it up; that seems unlikely if it is plugged exhaust.

@sikruis have you run the truck straight off the headers, with the exhaust removed or at least cracked open with a gap at the header? If so, did it stay running this way? Would cause a check engine light, but should stay running, if your problem is a clogged exhaust. Do be careful to not run it very long straight off the headers, bent valves from an open exhaust, is a real thing.
