Sounds like you’re in the same area as me. I hate cities but I agree, this is a decent place to live.

Don't know if it's been stated yet but here is something else. I agree with most of this thread on warming up. But one thing that must be avoided is starting a vehicle, esp in extreme cold, and shutting off the engine while the ECM is still in 'enriching' mode. Like if you just wanted to move a vehicle in a driveway, parking lot or garage a few feet and then shut it off.
What this does, according to some techs with a lot more experience and knowledge of engine management systems than me, is it leaves the cylinder awash with gas. Then the next time the vehicle is started the oil film in the cylinders is so diluted with gas it causes excessive wear. Think about how careful engine builders are when starting an engine for the first time, taking care to prime the engine by building oil pressure before actual ignition. And using assemble lube. I doubt the engine will be damaged if it's done a couple times. But for someone like me that moves my Taco out of the garage when I need the room for a project or parks in front of the garage and then before nightfall moves it into the garage, I've had to remind myself of these short 'start-ups'.

I had always heard the same thing when researching this topic.

The vet that I take my dogs too is about a quarter mile down the road from my house, so when I take them in the winter I always drive around for a few miles first to get the truck up to operating temperature before shutting it down in the parking lot.

And yet somehow, despite all the youtube click-bait videos, these trucks just keep going anyway

The internet will always be there to tell you about the ones that don't.

You'll never hear about the vast majority that run for years with no issues. Why? Because that type of content doesn't sell
