Theres some dogmatic individuals who say that coiling excess cable will create more impedance…which it kind of will, but outside the coax.

Physically winding the cable too tightly can damage the cable which can, of course, cause undesirable effects.

You should always check your antennas with an swr/antenna meter anyways. I would hazard a guess that many people are running “unoptimized” setups — ground plane issues, wrong antenna size/length, etc.

I’d think you’re probably fine provided the SWR is pretty low.

If you need to use adhesives tape, 3M is the way. Sometimes the thicker foamy 3m automotive trim tape flexes too much under weight at high temps inside the car. However, I’ve found the the outdoor rated clear 3m command strips hold weight for years. It’s pretty thin which by itself seems to help.

So, are you printing anything at the moment? :D

I'm gonna have to buy you a couple spools or a case of Mtn Dew for all the stuff you've printed.

I could knock it out this afternoon yet and give it a try...see if it seems sturdy enough. Don't worry about it...you're paid up.

We used to use 3M VHB for led tape light at my previous company. The adhesive on the (LED) tape wasn't great, and sometimes wouldn't hold on certain surfaces. The VHB never failed. I even used it to attach a junction box to subway tile once. I wasn't sure about it until I tried pulling it off. :D

I braved the ugly wintery mix going on here to go out to the truck and check the end of the cable. The big connector comes off and I knew that. If it didn't I would have had a lot more trouble getting it through the little hole in the rubber grommet in the firewall. It doesn't look like the other part comes off. Was crimped on from what I can tell.

    :bored:

Just woke up from a nap. What's I miss?

    Off road jack = yes

    Don't coil your cable

    Adjust your antennas

CAD (need to get some templates drawn up for my homemade aux controller)

Sounds like y'all got it handled.

    Time for some run

Since Grok has the day off, my AI specialist says bundling is no bueno.

The interesting part to me is not placing it by power cables. I need to move mine over to driver side of console. lol

I'm always careful not to wind cables too tightly. This is like extension cords 101. :D

I didn't even know you could use an SWR meter on a GMRS. I have one from tuning my CB antenna. Just not sure how I'd tune the stubby GMRS antenna.

Side note: I'm just remembering meeting @McSpazatron in a grocery store parking lot (I think) and tuning our CB antennas probably around 2020 or '21. We drove in different directions calling back and forth to check range. Good times!

@ajmogen had helped me tune it previously, but I think I changed the mount or something.

Before I do all the research... Has anyone on here done the Tundra brake reservoir swap or some other type to increase volume (for rear discs etc...)?

According to the technical information for the power stop X1 and powerstop X2 kits, you can upgrade the master reservoir but it wouldn't really do anything. Because of the way fluid dynamics are, fluid doesn't compress, using the new brake lines is a must, but since they aren't any bigger and once you have the system bled properly, your stockmaster cylinder/reservoir will do just fine. The other reason of this is that brake fluid doesn't recirculate so whatever's in the reserve tank is really there just to get you home. If there's an emergency. The fluid in the lines stays in the lines until you do a brake bleed every two years.

So in that case, do a big break upgrade at least for the fronts if not the rears as well and send it. :D

Already have the big brakes up front-thats why I HAD to go to 35's to fit that oversized 17" wheel... Why does it seem everyone says you have to have more for anything but those little wheel cylinders out back. Must be more to it. I get what your saying and I want to make it that easy, but I think that even the brake kit providers suggest the bigger reservoir. Why..........

Laso, the pistons move on both wheel cylinders and calipers and that does move fluid. The fluid doesn't compress, but the volume of displacement of the piston has to be accounted for or your going to be smashing air.

I don't think the calipers take that much more fluid than the wheel cylinders. Your master is only going to move so much fluid to work the brakes. And when you release the pedal, that fluid gets pushed back into the lines as the pistons retract. It probably doesn't take but 50cc to move your caliper.
