This afternoon I started to replace the lower ball joints on the firewood truck. I was wrapping up the drivers side, all I had left to do was reinstall the outer tie rod end and tighten the nut. I set the 20V DeWalt impact gun on "stun" and gave it a few ugga-duggas. This was the result.



In all of the years that I've done suspension work I have never sheared off a tie rod stud. I've stripped more than I'll ever confess to, but never snapped one clean off with an impact gun.

 

Well, better to snap off now then when your on the road..
Yes strange. I’ve never done it and I used an air impact all my career.

Gotta bring the walk behind back up from the shed. Late season storm today. Haven’t switched over so no biggie.
Was just cleaning the winter clutter and organizing. Was going to pick up debris from the lawn today. Yea I think I’m ditching that. I’m sure I’ll find something to do.

That’s going to be a nice space when you’re done.
