Liftgate Actuator

Hi! I have a 2022 TRD Sport. The tailgate stopped locking and unlocking with my key fob. The doors still work fine.
Looks like a bad actuator that keeps blowing fuses (located drivers side under the molding). I’m having trouble finding just the actuator to replace it. Help!

 

Is the fuse inline on the wire?

sounds like you have a pop n’ lock kit. You should be able to source direct from them.

the OEM tailgate lock plugs in on the passenger side.

 

If it were me, I would be removing the aftermarket version and installing the OEM version. Toyota sells the complete kit for a very affordable price.

 

It is OEM, not an aftermarket.

 

I do believe the fuse is in the wire. Pretty sure it came OEM on the truck.

 

Ok, so you said it keeps blowing fuses. Who installed the oem kit? Or did it come with the truck from the factory?

 

I’m not sure. I bought it used a year old. It was already installed. I just ordered a new pop & lock replacement actuator which was only like $40 so I’ll start there.

 

Are you located in the south or gulf states? Or did the truck come from that area. Toyota southeast installed aftermarket items at the port it it looks OEM but it’s not.

I have had both pop n lock and OEM. They both work. If the actuator doesn’t fix it check the splice connections and wire harness for chafing or loose connections.

 

I bought it in south Texas. I've checked the wiring all underneath the truck by following its path. Hopefully the actuator fixes the issue.
