Hoping you all and your plants have a good spring.
We've been dry here in Palm Beach County for 5 months, except for Milton and one other storm. No hail yet this year .... (tapping on wood).

Been using irrigation throughout. Fruit trees are all healthy, budding, and some have fruit hanging. Pineapple gardens all have fruit, will take another 5 months left before harvest. Have a 5 yr old Jackfruit tree that has both male and female buds/flower on it, and can see the female starting to get pollinated. This is the first year of its flowering.
Our dragonfruit trellises have been growing crazy the past two months, been pruning all of them, getting them ready for a robust fruiting season in another month. Our two Longans (Lychee) trees are now budding and flowering. Mango trees all have some fruit hanging, finished flowering a month ago.

Been battling masked bandits this year in our veggie garden, Raccoons had some successful terror and mayhem raids. The Mrs seeded and planted peas, beans, jalapeno and bell peppers, okra and tomatoes. Lol, we have one plant of each remaining. Wound up trapping 6 of em and a fat opossum. They wont be bothering the garden anymore.

    Cheers

this weed is my nemesis. This year i am picking them first. upon any movement to the stem, it shoots out seeds all over the place. Hand, foot, pets, critters, deer, wind, it’s all over.

i think if you pull them early, you can get them before the seeds are ready. or maybe i’m pulling ones that already shot their load.

I have raised beds. I am thinking of using weed block fabric on the top of the soil to keep down weeds. Anyone have any experience with doing this ? what do you think about it ? Thank you for any comments/help.

Between the last night and today we moved 5 year old fruit trees (2 pears and 2 apples). Raked and cleaned 4,500 sq.ft. of soil (contractor graded a part of the back yard this week), seeded with clover, covered with wheat straw.
    We are beat.
One of the pear holes ended up on the crossroad of old sycamore rootes, as thick as my shin. Moving the hole was not option, 3 chains and an hour of ax work later, pear got a new happy home.

Talked to my smarter better half to check my thinking.
Fabric will make your soil hotter and dryer. So stay up on your watering.
How tall are your beds? Ours 16" tall and we do not have much problems with weeds, except in the spring. Some weed seeds get blowing in over the winter.
We clean the beds, top off with fresh soil and put down 2" of pine shavings. They keep weeds away and keep moisture in. Pine shavings decay over winter, so they feed the plants the following summer.
