Has anyone ever reversed the LP9 brackets to give a little extra forward clearance to mount on their bumper? It works, but keeps the light in a rigid forward orientation that can’t be adjusted. The alternative is just making some kind of bracket to let the light sit more forward.

We see it all the time, not intentionally, but we have seen a couple of people reverse the bracket. It should be able to work if you need a little bit of clearance.

    Thanks Brahian, it worked!

Quick low quality cellphone snap after the install at my buddy's place. I absolutely love the look and they are BRIGHT.

    Greetings,

I have a 30" OnX6+ Combo in my Front ADD Honey Badger bumper. I am adding a roof rack and it has space for a 40" OnX6+. The 30" Combo is bright, has nice light spread, etc but since it is down low I often cannot see over hills and things up ahead so the goal of the roof rack light is to be able to see up/over and further down. I was thinking about getting the Spot for this but was wondering if another Combo might be better. This is a hunting truck so I am not racing through the desert or anything, it's really rough roads, berms, rocks, searching for game, etc.

Any opinion on what would work best?

Any 4th of July sales coming possibly?

    Appreciate the help.

For lights mounted on the roof, I am team spot pattern 99.99% of the time. Not only is it ideal for limiting hood splash, but it also makes use of the approach angle of the light to the roadbed, allowing for maximal down-field visibility.

If you have zero other forward-facing lights other than your headlights, then you can make a case for the combo pattern, but know that you'll have some more hood splash to deal with than I would like.

As for promos, BD doesn't typically run anything other than during Black Friday, and we haven't gotten any notification as dealers that there's going to be anything soon. We've got all of the BD goodies on the shelf over here at Hotshot Offroad, and would be happy to help you out!

Let me know if you have any other questions too.

The LP9's came in handy during a recent trip through ranch country (the throw is crazy!)

Looking for some opinions. Installed some LP4’s and LP6’s on my Tacoma. Lp6 is driving combo and lp4 is spot. Which would be the best to switch to an amber lens in a driving combo. I was thinking the lp4 but nothing to back that up. IMG_9735.jpg

Why do you want amber lens?

Lots of night time driving in poor (snow/rain) conditions, 6+ months of the year. White light does not work well for it.

The LP4 with spot lenses actually project less distance than the LP6 driving combo according to BD Baja-Designs-ELS-Final-2022-10-20.pdf I use Squadron Pros for zone 1 And 2 (2 pairs both amber) You could start with amber DC lenses for the LP4's but you should consider at least a pair of Squadron's with wide cornering in amber say mounted lower next to your winch. The wide cornering lens will provide a flatter beam. Something not available on the LP series. My set up on the front is 2 pair of Squadron Pro's all amber. The center may be DC or WC and the 2 on the corners will be amber WC. Then on top of the bumper will be a OnX6 30" arc dual control all clear. Outer section will be DC and the center will be spot. Study up on Baja Designs lighting zones and the ELS. I think the LP4's in amber will still be an issue in bad weather with too much light projection upwards. You got a good looking truck.

Thank you! I Will do some more reading, thanks for the information! I can definitely tell the spot lp4 is less distance/less width than the lp6 combo lens, just from using them the couple times I have. Having not driven in the poor conditions yet, I honestly dont know if these lp4’s will be too much still. Maybe having the lp6 with the low beam in an amber would work better. I guess it wouldn’t be the worst thing to have multiple sets of lenses for both pairs.

They do offer the amber rock guard which would the cheapest way to get an idea if changing color would help. The rock guard option does reduce the output some compared to the lens.
