The nice part is it's extra money, it's not coming from the weekly budget.

True, but there's some things I need to save the monies for. I figure if I can make it 2 months on this shit schedule, it'll put me in a good position for what I'm shooting for. They haven't released May's schedule yet, but I don't see there being any less holes to pick up.

Good times had at the Rattlesnake Rodeo in Opp AL this weekend! Got back in touch with an old family friend and felt good to be back down in the OPP. The gentleman holding the snake pictured knew my Grandpa and I'm hoping I can be a snake handler next year for the rodeo. They're actually really gentle creatures. The adults don't typically inject venom when they bite because they know they can't eat you and it would be a waste of their venom. The young rattlesnakes don't know any better and pump it all out.

Glad you had a good time. I’ll leave the snakes for you. They are not my favorite animal to be near at all.

Good morning Bama, we are getting some rain this morning, supposed to be gone by 9 am. We are in a burn ban with wild fires popping up all over. We have a lot of timber down from the hurricane, so there's a lot of fuel.
Hope everyone have a great day and a safe day today.

    From AlabamaWX

RADAR CHECK: Rain is widespread across Alabama early this morning along and south of I-59; there are few heavier storms over the southern counties, but they are well below severe limits. We note SPC (NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center) maintains a low end “marginal risk” of severe thunderstorms for far South Alabama and along the Gulf Coast today… a few storms there could produce small hail and gusty winds. There is no tornado risk.

Rain will end from northwest to southeast today; the sky becomes partly to mostly sunny over the northern half of the state. This afternoon any lingering showers will be across Southeast Alabama. Expect a high today not too far from 70 degrees.

REST OF THE WEEK: Alabama’s weather for the rest of the week looks dry with highs mostly in the 70s and lows in the 40s and 50s. Partly to mostly sunny days, fair nights.

THE ALABAMA WEEKEND: The weather becomes unsettled as moist air surges northward. We will bring in a chance of showers and storms on Saturday, but it won’t rain all day… the high will be in the 75-80 degree range. Then, on Sunday and Sunday night a dynamic system will bring potential for severe thunderstorms to much of the Deep South. SPC has defined a large severe weather risk from the Gulf Coast to the southern Great Lakes…

For now it looks like the highest severe weather risk will come late Sunday and Sunday night, but it is simply too early for details concerning the threats, timing, and magnitude of the event. Having a severe weather threat in late March is very routine in Alabama, and is nothing new. We will be able to be more specific later this week… stay tuned. See the video briefing for maps, graphics, and more details.

WHEN TO PLANT: We see no freezing temperatures across Alabama for the next ten days, but the advice remains the same every year… wait until April 15 if you want to plant something that might be harmed buy a freeze or frost. We almost always have a sharp cold snap in Alabama sometime during the first half of April.

ON THIS DATE IN 1968: Unusually cold air was in place across the southern U.S… Birmingham dropped to 23 degrees, which still stands as the daily record low.

ON THIS DATE IN 2023: A large, violent and destructive multi-vortex wedge tornado struck the communities of Rolling Fork and Silver City, Mississippi, killing 17 people and injuring at least 165 others. The tornado was the strongest and deadliest of a widespread tornado outbreak across the southern U.S. between March 24–27

These are captured from all around the southeast, East from situations where they pose a threat to humans and humans pose a threat to them. They are all relocated to wildlife management areas. I'll upload some more pictures later this evening.

@Arrowshot Mostly diamondbacks. These were taken after the rattlesnake race. They dump out a barrel of snakes at the center of a circle, the first snake to the outer ring wins. If that's your snake, you win. Not sure what but, you win lol. They had one Timber rattler on hand, all the others were eastern diamondbacks.

Edit: To clarify most of these snakes were captured from Covington and Coffee county Alabama no more than 50 miles from Opp Al. The Rattlesnake you can eat is from a USDA farm in Tennessee.
