MT tires are not known to be road tires. The volume manufactured is a fraction of Michelin or BFG. Probably a bad tire or tires.

Think about it; if they are balanced as they say...what they are really saying is they balanced them centered on the hub.
When you put them on your vehicle, they are centering on the lugs.
They want you to 'force' them to center on the hub with hubcentric rings.
Either the center of your wheel's hub bore does not coincide exactly with the center of the wheel's bolt circle; or, they mounted it on the balancer like a hubcentric instead of a lugcentric wheel.
Ask them if they used a lugcentric adapter to mount the wheel on the balancer.

    So
Will have to call and see tomorrow. It looked like they had some type of thing that fit in the center bore, and then threaded some type of plunger looking thing to hold the wheel on the balancer. If that makes sense to you. Trying to look up some videos on youtube but i’m at camp so i have no service and can’t find anything.

Assuming your hub center and bolt circle coincide, a hubcentric balance will work on lugcentric wheels...

Also, if they used the wrong tapered cone or didn't use a fitted collet on the backside, the machine doesn't engage the inside of the hub-bore and it's center, but rather a surface outside it.

    Did they recheck them?
Did they re-attempt balancing? Were weights moved?
Was an attempt made to rotate tires and isolate which wheel(s) were the problem?
    What is your cold psi?

I took them back three times now. The first time i went back they rebalanced them and told me one of the rear wheels was out of balance. Put them back on the truck and it was 100x worse then before once i got on the highway. Was back again yesterday and they put them back on the balancer but says they balance good. They told me the fix to my vibration would be these rings. I’m running about 33 cold across all wheels.

So only one wheel/tire is vibrating?

You only 'need' 27 psi(cold); it's what I run mine at.

Yea they had it at like 37 or something i lowered it but wasn’t completely sure where to have it at. And no i think they all are to be quite honest. Every time going over 60 my truck just starts to shake. Sometimes i feel it in the back sometimes i feel it in the steering wheel. The last time i went they told me they all balance out good and i need rings. So idk. Not sure where to go from here. If i should just get a set of rings see what happens or if i should try to find somewhere else to take them. I’d like to talk to method see what they say but they’re only open mon-fri. These wheels are so popular on here didn’t really expect to have any issues. Idk if they just don’t know what they’re doing at DT or what. All i know is i can’t keep driving it how it is.

    You ever had an alignment?
With 0 offset your tires toe out more when driven; this can induce a vibration.

FWIW, no issues with my Fuel Trophy wheels with 108 bore. Not using rings. 90k miles so far. Using local Discount Tire.

    Hi,
I’ve had really good experience with this company, they make custom centering rings or spacers with the centering rings built in. I’ve only had my Tacoma for a couple years and it’s stock but I’m not new to the modification game with cars. I had 5 mm spacers on my BRZ that went right into the center bore of RPF1s I was running. Assuming that’s the problem of course. You kind of have to eliminate every variable. Hope it gets resolved for you.

Held off on rings, took it to another shop for an alignment after discount tire said the tires were starting to cup. Had them do road force balance while they had it. Said they changed some things from how discount tire had them. Seems good so far. Fingers crossed. Getting on the hwy in the morning where i can open it up will be the true test.

Rides pretty damn good now. No more death shake on the highway. Appreciate the suggestions, glad to finally have it resolved! Likely won’t be back to Discount Tire unless i have to use the tire Road Hazard warranty

I’m having the same thing happen over here for me, but not with method rims. Some other rims I bought they are suggesting hub rings but I think I’m just going to have my shopping my hometown have a look.

What is the bore size listed as for the wheels you have?

Seems pretty close. Tacoma hub size is 106.1 don’t think you’ll find any hub rings for your setup. Probably just need a good road force balance. Make sure you torque your wheels in a star pattern that will help too.

Road force balance is absolutely not necessary. What you need is a skilled technician when dealing with Toyota wheels. Toyota wheels because of the large hub hole are notoriously difficult to balance. Discount is one of the better tire companies out there. Sounds like you may have just had a bad experience.

I would still get the hub centric rings. You are rolling the dice with getting conical seat lug nuts to center your wheel every time.

Discount tire only does road force balances. I would argue it’s absolutely necessary if you don’t want vibrations. His best course of action would be to get a road force balance and torque the lugs correctly because you aren’t gonna get a .1 mm hub ring.
