I finally got about an hour in the shop today. Finished up a cross for our house.
It's an exceptional piece of flame box elder.
Got a coat of blo on it.

You deserve to choose the wood pattern for the one you keep.

When life gives you lemons, make frames! Last Friday night, I drilled the hinge holes on the wrong side of one of the cabinet doors. After some swearing, I knew that I would not be happy with it even though it would be hidden inside. So, I build a new one right then.

Today, I turned the bad door into a frame for all of my old concert tickets from my college days. Looks pretty good hanging on the wall above my new speakers. Just ignore the hole in the left side for the door pull. HaHa.

Put two more of those inserts on it to cover the door pull hole.

Drill another hole on the opposite side and plug both. Then, it looks like they were planned like the corner ones.

Thanks for the the suggestions. I have a plan to “fix” it. I have something on order. Just need to wait for it to arrive.

Somehow I never doubted that you already had a plan for fixing it.

Hard a short day at work so that means I got some shop time tonight.
Started burning the edges. Not going as heavy with the burn effect this time.

The catalpa burns very cool when done lightly, it gives it a striped effect almost like zebra wood.

IMG_0111.jpg IMG_0109.jpg IMG_0110.jpg Different technique for my color line shelves

    wire separation
    Clamp
Then seal 3 edges with latex caulk

tomorrow or Thursday pour colored epoxy resin in the open edge - will be slow to allow bubbles and prevent voids

the aluminum wire is parallel with the flow so to speak ie perpendicular to the length

What are your plans with these panels?

Since a majority of the tickets in my new frame are for early ‘90s Grateful Dead shows, I got a “Stealie” or Steal Your Face hat pin to cover the knob hole. I just wedged a pice of pink eraser in the original hole and stuck this in that. It is even removable if I want to change to a Dancing Bear pin later.

BTW I saw the Dead, first time, UCSB gym. 1977.

Shelves. Just longer for the living room. Remember my speaker shelves I posted about with the thin red line? Wife wants terra cotta color for first shelf. I am refining the technique.
