I've seen pictures of this ruin before in a textbook and they look much the same still. I'd wager with weather getting even more insane from unchecked climate change it's probably for the best that they covered them

 

I doubt this one made it into a text book. Get unknown and 30 miles of dirt to find it. But yes to your point. I was so excited to find as much pottery as we did, usually places are stripped clean.

No sir that's nearby but this one is an unmarked spot of a dirt road. It is connected historically but considered an outlier and it's significance isn't well known.

Hope y'all had a good weekend. Went to the drag strip to watch some bracket racing. Such a grass roots operation compared to the place in Idaho I ran at. Still pretty cool to pop the tailgate and sit and watch some cool cars race from 20' away.


Also bit the bullet and bought a 24-105 f4 IS II. My V1 version wasn't on canons website as one that I can send in for repair so that's a huge bummer. I tried the 18-55 I have last weekend and that shit just bummed me out.

 

Nice. I'm pining after the RF100-500mm F4.5-7.1 L IS USM right now. I wouldn't want to carry it around like I do with the others, but it'd be awesome for kiddo's sports events, fighter jets, and the random birdie every now and then... oooffff, but the price.

 

If it's anything like my 600, once you take the plunge, and you have it and see the results, the pain goes away. Time helps too

Played a gig? What does that mean? I know you do sound but didn't know you perform these days!

I'm gonna try that and if it can be fixed that way, I'll gift it to my gf. I just don't want that gamble for myself it's my fault I should've done more research on if the original was still serviceable. I did a better job with the 600 hence why I got a newer version and more expensive because I knew it could be fixed.

 

Im kind of surprised they don't say they support it. Usually they are pretty good about servicing older glass especially L glass.


Yeah I play lead trumpet in an old man big band. Its fun. We aren't amazing or anything, but I don't care. Just fun to play. Been doign it for 4 years almost now. Although I have another gig this summer that's going to be hard and I'll really have to practice for to get me lip in good shape. That's the only thing about this that is a bit of work. lead playing means i have to practice fairly regularly to keep my lips in shape. (like weight lifting for sport kind of).

 

Although I don't listen to a lot of big band swing, I could see how that would be a fun gig to get out play a few times a year

 

Super fun. Plus the best thing about big band is the variety of music. Funk, rock, swing, samba, tango. Then sun genres of all that. One of my old band teachers used to say jazz band players were the football players of the music world because you have to be best in school to play there.

But yeah it's fun to play in. We rarely get paid anything usually just play at fundraisers or something. Which is fine. Still amazes me how many people show up and actually dance though.

I played Tenor Sax in jazz band back in the day. It was fun but I never practiced like I should of to be great at it. Our band has played a half dozen gigs since being together and we have lost money doing it lol. It's fun so can't really complain.

 

Yeah it's fun. Music is great that way.

 

Do you guys record anything Monte? Be cool to hear your events. Your sisters albums are still on our playlists at our house among your other records you've been a part of. I really appreciate your style and the way your mixes sound. Seriously it's very good. Props to you in the arena you're playing in.

Nah we don't. I'm sure there's some bad videos on Facebook. But that's it.

Got a few albums coming out in the coming weeks that are pretty good too. Mostly mastering them but a few mixes too.

Been freelancing a lot more than usual the last few months.

Oh yeah definitely. Nice change of pace from classical stuff at my full time job. Been doing live shows a bit too at a venue I (and they like me) like. Did a big film project too recently on the 24 hour lemons race ha that was fun.
