What do you guys use to strip surface rust on raw steel when it's in hard to get places?

I've always wanted underbody mudflaps so I made some tonight. Not sure what purpose they serve but I like the way they look sooo

Nice. They're on desert trucks to help prevent the whole rear end from getting sand blasted from the front

I have some pretty good bro lean. Maxtrac spindle in the front with DK LT, LT spec kings lowest possible collar setting on a 550lb spring. 1" eye. DMZ in the back, JD towers with 14" bypass any suggestions to correct the bro lean? I know the maxtrac spindle is probably the issue, but there's gotta be a way to raise the rear a bit.

Put some Rough Country 2" blocks in the back.....

Jk. Please don't hurt me. As far as the spindles go, where do they have you in the travel range with your shock collars spun all the way up? Out of curiosity. Wonder where you'll be if you ditch the spindles

I already put a 2 “ block…. Joking…. To be honest I don’t remember what it cycled. Im having hydros installed in the front soon and will cycle it then. I guess its not as bad as I thought.

2"x2" bumps? Yeah definitely cycle that thing once the hydros are in. Perhaps consider shortening the bumps to 1" stroke from the get-go because if you're already all the way up on the shock collar, that's going to put you into your bump zone very quickly.

Yes 2x2, I can just add a 1” shim inside right? I’ve read about it. Just deciding if I am going to use stock location or cut off and have new plates added

Sometimes, your moral compass tells you to do things you really don’t want to do. This is one of them times. After talking with several friends in the Tacoma game, here we are.

I’m sure most of you saw the pictures I posted the other day of some welds that lacked any form of fusion or penetration. In the event you didn’t, I’ll post them again.

These parts came from my JD slide rack. As some may know, we experienced catastrophic failure with this part. Total loss of steering at the worst possible time. But we got lucky.

I dug into these steering clevis’s to figure out what exactly went wrong. Mainly because I want to be sure my parts don’t fail on my wife. Sometimes the best learning is cutting shit apart and doing some destructive testing.

Needless to say, not one single cross section cut from the steering clevis couldn’t be broke with a single hand and a pair of pliers.

This entire situation has plagued my head wondering what my front control arms look like inside. Unfortunately, powder coating doesn’t always show cracking in the base material. I speak from over a decade of coating experience.

I have now come to the conclusion I will be stripping my arms to bare metal and getting them mag’d. Potentially even X rayed. I’ve simply got too much at stake to have an arm failure destroy my hard work.

In no way is this post trying to trash JD. But some things in the past still haunt me. Like “you can’t expect parts to last when you’re running 37’s”.

If you’re running JD parts, I would very heavily consider a close inspection.

If I’ve offended anybody, I’m sorry. But what’s right is right. And I feel this is one of them times to talk. Even though I feel like a complete asshole in doing so.
