I need to change my belt tensioner pulley that is squealing/wobby.

Does anyone know which way to loosen the bolt? is it counterclockwise like normal or clockwise?? I know the v6 is clockwise but I'm unsure on the 2.7. I can't find confirmation of this anywhere.

    Thanks.

    Pretty sure it's ccw.

Just replace the bearing. I did that to tensioner & both idler pulleys.

good source for bearings and sizes? I have read differing things. Apparently one of the idlers has 2 bearings ?

Yes, one or two has double bearings, and one is a goofy extra wide. I sourced bearings from ebay. But looking back, it was not a straight forward process. I used double bearings on all three pulleys as the exact replacements I couldn't find. And even then I had to make some bushings on the lathe. My truck is a 2013, but would bet 2008 takes same.

    Tensioner: SKF 6203-2RS x2
    Upper idler: SKF 6302-2RS x2
    Lower idler: SKF 6303-2RS x2
    Belt: BANDO 7PK2280

The tensioner & upper idler required some custom bushings to fill in larger ID of bearings. The lower idler was OK with the bolt and took about 20 min to swap. Got about 3 hours total for whole the job. That included 45 min one evening taking pulleys off to measure and scope things out. Think all the bearings were about $30-40. Besides saving some money, it was more of a challenge to see if it could be done. Did this in April of 2023, and now have 50k on them. Zero issues.

Obviously not a direct swap, and you need access to a lathe or someone that does. Was easy for me, I've got a cheapie mini bench lathe and had aluminum stock on hand. So my apologies if I misled you. But it was a fun project. If you search hard enough you might be able to source correct bearings. I think I found the oddest one (tensioner?), but it was pricey, but I didn't look anywhere beyond ebay.

I replaced the bearings in my pulleys, no machining needed. I knocked the old ones out and pressed new ones in with a socket of slightly smaller dia. in my bench vise. IIRC, only one pulley has 2 bearings (2009)
