2006 Tacoma 1GR-FE Engine Swap

I have new JBA shorties on for now, neighbors love it. It does the exact same thing. Not getting misfires but all the other errors to do with the disconnected sensors.

I had a friend recommend looking at the VVT solenoid. I haven't seen evidence pointing to this & I don't wanna keep replacing parts. I gotta a buddy coming by tonight with a better scanner.

 

Hopefully your friend can find something we cannot.

 

Found nothing new, still getting random misfires and engine shuts down. The next steps will be checking the cam sensors and doing another fuel pressure test.

 

Do you have a continually attached fuel pressure gauge?

I doubt you have an AFR gauge. That would help as well.

 

What are the fuel trims with your scan tool, while running?

Seems a little high on pressure. Should be 40.8 to 41.7psi constant. But could just be an offset error of the gauge.

 

Progress for today, I checked a cam sensor and the crank position sensor.

 

Sooooo, is that good or bad?

 

Reading was within specs so, good. At least that what the OHM meter is reading. However, I'm reading that it could still be bad?

 

What are the symptoms of a bad ECU?

 

Won't stay running.

Got her back put together. Same issues, getting misfires on 3 and 5. A friend recommended replacing the fuel pressure regulator.

 

I don't know if it's possible without looking but we need to check and make sure no coil and/or injector connectors got crossed.
I'll have to look up wire colors later.

 

I forgot to mention that I checked the voltages on the plugs, all where within specs. I also checked the resistance on coils 1, 3, 5. All were within specs.

 

And 2,4,6? Or not worrying about those?

 

I guess I can pull those off too and test. Too tired today anymore. Putting that damn compressor and serpentine belt back spent me.
