2025 Sedona Mountain Bike Festival in the books...

Snow flurries on Friday...got splashy on the Rascal and looped Soldier Pass/Adobe Jack back to the Posse Grounds...

smbf 2025 adobe jack grand central sign.jpg

    smbf 2025 splashy rascal.jpg

Hung out at the Muc Off booth with some friends while they washed bikes...in the snow. Went to bed Friday night and woke up Saturday monring to this...

    smbf 2025 snowy taco sedona.jpg

Festival and trails were shut down until noon...sun came out, melted the snow...riding and craziness ensued.

Bunny hop contest was LIT...Braydon Bringhurst was your winner at an astounding 42"...with full redemption from a round two face plant/endo into the festival ground asphalt.

    b hop smbf 2025.jpg

The judges were a little wigged out...(that's Mike Rainey in the mid...Thunder Mountain Bikes owner/festival organizer)...

    smbf 2025 the judges.jpg

They handed out free crafts from some of the local breweries..it was a blast.

Sunday conditions were better...demo'ed a Shimano auto shift equipped e-bike and got led out by Joe Lawill...Mert's son and team Yeti rider.

    smbf 2025 shimano ebike demo.jpg

Seven Sacred Pools area and my demo SC Heckler...the auto shift is pretty frikkin' cool. I demo'ed it last year too, but that was 12 speed XT...very clanky and hammering shifts. This year came with 11 speed CUES equipped mech...much smoother and less hammering. The front chainring literally spins when your coasting creating shifts to place you in a higher/lower gear based upon algorithms and your cadence...

smbf 2025 shimano ebike demo heckler.jpg

Last year we could only ride the OHV trail out to Seven Sacred Pools via Soldier Pass trail...but this year the Rangers were on full chill mode, so we got to take the demos out on some real singletrack. From Seven Sacred Pools we went to the sinkhole, out to Soldier Pass, out Jordan to Grand Central, up and over Ant Hill, down GC to Crusty and back to the festival. We got split up and I ended up in the A group ripping down led by none other than Joe Murray, MTB legend. That dude rips!!!

Sunday night the festival wrapped, and I stayed over to avoid the traffic on the 17. I got in one more loop before leaving town and slamming a Buddah Beach at Famous Pizza & Beer in the Village of Oak Creek...

When they polled the SLC locals before the name change, we were all disappointed they didn't change it to Lamborzzini

I feel like they still playing homage to Ferrari. I feel like through pop culture and social media I've heard the phrase.. "pulled up in my 'ari."

ooops it's "pulled up in a rari"

Took the hardtail out this weekend while it was sunny and warm. Haven't ridden a MTB in proper conditions in a while and it felt awesome - been on the fatbike for most of the winter and been itching for something else. Went to the most rocky section of the trails - definitely wakes you up with no rear suspension.

Haven't ridden since late October and I'm getting antsy for a desert trip. :playball:

Had the push rebuilt and updated, did a fork service and added some Slik decals, should be ready for another season. Might toss some fresh tires on, but was pretty impressed by the specialized, and they still have some life left.

Middle of the trip right now. Got a motel in St. George since it’s damn hot and was time for a shower + long days ahead of us so pre resting up extra good vs camping.

Porcupine had me winded. Honestly hadn’t ridden enough recently + extra elevation?

On hells revenge heard someone say “look they’ve got bikes on it” and a guy in a dually tow truck on 40’s asked me a mile in if we were looking for the slick rock bike trail lol. A mile into that trail takes a good bit of commitment.

Gooseberry was today. Good but didn’t go crazy since friend wanted to do this one with me, and porcupine was too much for him to bother trying.

Zen tomorrow unless we wake up and don’t feel confident we can ride well, might just mess around in sand hallow until we drive down to whitmore canyon overlook to camp for the night right on the rim hopefully

I’ve talked to 4 groups of people on trails total. 2 groups from Ottawa, and 2 groups from… yep. Reno

    What’re the fu**ing odds lmao

Still hitting all the national parks and some hikes too so it’s not a bike focused trip, but I’ll come back to some of these places when I’m with someone who can ride everything with me, or solo. I’m LOVING all of these places. Always had a hunch I’d like this state. Confirming on multiple levels

Couch to double blacks yesterday. A rare sunny and hot PNW early spring day, still got a little muddy. Overall good shit, mentally no issue sending but the body was definitely lagging. :deadhorse:

Obligatory Taco here, not mine.. I was waiting for the boys to shuttle back up and I forgot to take a more scenic shot.

A pile of snow that will likely be there till June.

Hence why I'm skiing today and haven't been on the bike. :D

Take a squirrel to the face today. The little bastard ran right in front of me, thankfully he jumped onto the tire and not into the spokes and got flung right into my face. We shared a moment, I’m pretty sure his nuts grazed my lips.

My buddy actually had one get tangled up in his front wheel/brake disc and took a really nasty fall on a DH run.

That's a fear of mine, not so much on the MTB but on the rail trail nearby they are psychotic
