Has anyone bought the new Spec-U exhaust system for the 2 gen? I am running a cat-less setup with the URD Y pipe (want to sell this since the spec-U has an alternative pipe). Currently (magnaflow 22") my notes sound like sh!t and I have audible scavenging at 2500RPM. Looking for a rumble not a rasp. Any users out there?

I have spec u headers and factory exhaust after, sounds stock mostly. At one point had headers, with a really small magnaflow exhaust and it sounded horrible.
Unless you’re supercharged and going for high power I don’t see any point in modding the exhaust on these trucks as they simply sound terrible no matter what you do.

TRD muffler is probably the safest bet for a rumble without being annoying

I tend to agree but I am supercharged (last one off the line in 2015 from the factory). My TRD muffler soundsed pretty awful too with this setup. Steve at URD promises that this new specU is the ticket, But holy cow I have funneled almost 2500 to him already in these parts I have and am kinda looking for an objective opinion.

What is this “spec U” you speak of

when I input Tacoma into the website under exhaust there is nothing that comes up labeled “spec U”

Love my SPEC-U exhaust, should be pairing it up with the URD Headers next week. Very tame, no drone at all. I definitely felt a gain in power right after install. :)
