I refuse to do water deeper than the bottom of the cab. No soggy carpet and electrical gremlins for me please.

Does anyone know someone with techstream or access to an OVtuner? I'm putting an AGM in my truck this week and want to tune the alternator properly for an AGM.

@VangaSTL does, But to be fair, even with higher output, our alternators really aren't set up to handle AGM batteries to full capacity.

I agree but I also believe something is better than nothing. I can put it on a good AGM charger once a week or so to fully condition it but I'm about to take a 13,000mi road trip and would like the higher voltage output if at all possible.

    Understood

I have both of my trucks tuned with higher alternator output for 27F batteries. Keeps em nice and happy, especially in the cold

I love Enersys Odyssey batteries and get them at cost so I can't complain but do like to keep them happy as well.

I doubt it, but you could call Adventure Motors and see if they have an OT tuner/techstream. Otherwise you'll have to find a friendly dealership tech. KC is pretty slim for tuned tacos. Last time I heard of someone out here getting tuned, @Shellshock was coming down for a deal and tuned @Sociopenguin 's truck.

There is a guy in OP that I use to tune (KDMaxx) but he is in Florida for the summer. I posted in KCTC :crapstorm: but didn't get any response. I'm toying the idea of just buying the OV dongle and playing with it. But that's a hefty price out the door.

Personally I wouldn’t spend the time / money to bother. I did it on my truck for a while but eventually went back to stock settings. It made basically zero different in real world usage.

I’ve had an agm battery in my tundra since 2019 with zero changes and have had zero problems

A hood mounted solar panel is a better investment if you want to keep your batteries topped off. It’s less money and doesn’t require your truck to be running.

Be wary of Adventure Motors. Some of the crap they sell is certified scrap.

A friendly dealership tech would be a better option.

    Although

Now that they all use GTS plus, you might be out of luck unless the dealership does a full ticket write up and charges you for an hour of labor. (Thank you John Deere. I mean Toyota)

Most people aren’t even doing tuning anymore. Demand has dried up and the 4th gen is significantly improved so there isn’t demand for the new generation

Like I've said, I've had the 1st and 3rd gens. Driving tacomas since 2003.

I didn't notice the 3rd gen "lag" until T.W. Is it because it's what I'm use to? maybe.....

and how many people looking for tunes are comparing the Tacomas driveability to their previous vehicle?
As if it should drive the same.

This is a very good and valid point that I have been considering. I'm solar dumb and need to do much more research but I'm seriously leaning towards this route if I don't just buy the single license VFTuner for $400. There are other things I want to do as well but can be done in TS...really need to make a friend at a the dealer.

I won't give them a single dime of business. They made something personal and there may be a gag order in place currently...
