Speaking of my mechanic, the Chrysler was there yesterday getting a backup camera installed, along with a new wheel bearing and the aforementioned power steering sensor. This 2000 AC SR5 was there getting the A/C serviced!

Is it rusty?

 

There was surface rust on the frame, the rear fenders are rusty, and it's an automatic...

 

Oh yeah if there's rust on the body of a first gen the frame is toast. Takes a lot to rust the body, takes nothing to rust out the frame.

 

This truck is registered in New Jersey, which stopped doing safety inspections in 2010 and only requires emissions testing every two years for vehicles newer than 1995. As a result of the nonexistent safety inspections, Jersey is full of vehicles that would pass an emissions test even in California, but would never pass a safety inspection in Pennsylvania. I'm thinking the frame has been repaired to make the truck safe, but it definitely was not mint! It's been almost four years since my truck got a new frame, and the frame is still clean enough to eat off of since I coat it with Fluid Film every year!

 

lol that was me. its a 97 LX with power windows. if you follow my build thread I am actually in the process of putting a frame on it from a 2002 double cab.

 

How are you gonna make the frame fit? I thought that the DCSB frame was slightly shorter...?

 

The frames are the same length etc just have to move cab mounts
