Steering wheel deteriorating

Anyone else’s steering wheels kind of peeling or feels like it’s deteriorating? Any recommendations to fix or whatever thanks

 

Most people just get a cover and press on. Others have just replaced the whole steering wheel with something like this:

a little work but worth it

 

Not saying it's necessarily your case, but I know LOTS of folks who've ruined leather wheels by way of hand sanitizer....

 

I installed one of the DIY steering wheel covers off of Amazon, and the stitching wasn't too bad to get the hang of. I recommend removing the steering wheel first to make stitching easier.

 

Replace it or wrap it.

I haven't done the truck, but I have wrapped up the car.

20 buck purchase that feels like it should be 500 bucks.

are you sure it isn't just dirty? I can't tell from the pic if it is actually peeling. Mine was dirty and looked like yours. I used a chemical guys product with an old toothbrush to clean it and it ended up looking like new.

 

Yes going back to the dealer and getting replaced.
Issues with plastic deteriorating

 

I didn't ruin mine with hand sanitizer but the material did become sticky. Some leather conditioner and it was good to go.

 

I steer clear of soaps or conditioners on my interiors, but periodically wiping the steering wheel down w a damp, hot cloth (like at the barber shop) pulls the grease, finger gunk, etc that otherwise eats or shines the wheel. Keeps it looking brand new for 10-20-30k mi. Buttons too.
