Looking for help deciding what audio upgrade I should do for my 2023 Tacoma TRD Offroad (Non JBL)

I want an audio system that gives me consistent, crystal clear, and pre-tunes audio at any volume, my issue with the stock (Non JBL) system is how out sounds shallow and at louder volumes the system loses clarity. Im looking for a speaker upgrade for now that I can use factory mounting, plugs, and AMP. For now im looking to do a speaker upgrade that will give me crystal clear and high quality audio and possibly a subwoofer addition later on. Money isn't an issue, I just want the best of the best and I have narrowed down my option to these two listed below:

    Option 1: FOCAL: Plug & Play 6 Speaker Bundle Upgrade | '16 - '23 Tacoma:
Option 2: OEM AUDIO+ Speaker Upgrade for the 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab:[IMG]

Replacing the rear speakers is almost pointless......

i would start with the amp. the stock headunit is underpowered to drive even the stock speakers. i upgraded to Kickers all around and only feel a marginal improvement. adding a Kicker Key is my next project.

    Pre-tuning the audio?
What do you mean by that?
Are you talking about some built in dynamics like compression?

I went with Subaru Tweeters and Kickers in the front doors. Big improvement. Like Tocamo said - pointless on the rears. Save your money.

You wont get very far without an aftermarket amp imo, quality speakers are designed to be used with a proper amp
I found the popular subaru tweeters to be harsh, but YMMV.
Dont even bother with the rear speakers, the stock HU sends them esentially no power

I found by far the best audio improvement was to sound deaden/isolate the doors and roof, lots of work though.

best of the best doesnt involve these pre-made kits....
nothing wrong with focal but look at the flax line, amongst others...
I would imagine those black vocals are nothing to write home about.
As stated, wont be impressive at without a real amp...
You need a plan & that requires knowledge or you will be buying multiple amps, vs buying the correct amp first that will power all your door speakers & your sub...
Go to multiple stereo shops around town & start asking questions, get some quotes for a complete system, listed to their display walls & compare sound of various speakers, ask questions, etc....

Ok, I’ll look into systems, I like stock sound just want clearer audio and don’t need sound boost. Im also doing sound skins pre-cut kit on all 4 doors

Check out Trail Grid Pro for a new head unit. I did every other change before I changed out the head unit from the stock non JBL and have to say that you should start from the source first and fill it in after that.

After I changed out the head unit I took out the Kicker Key because the speakers didn't need the amp if the head unit can produce a clear, pure audio signal

The best thing about the low power going to the rear speakers, is using this to power my underseat Powered Sub. Also this gives me full volume/fader control over it.

I just did this about a month ago to my Tacoma. We did not end up using the Alpine 4 channel amp since it had issues and went with an Audio Control Epic 4 channel amp. I'm using the stock Tacoma head unit and that's what the Audio Control LC7i is for. With the Infinity Kappa series speakers it sounds amazing. Plenty of bass for me so I'm not going to add a sub woofer. Needless to say I am very very happy with this install. Audio control does make a 4 channel amp with a built in LC7i all in one. I found this out after the fact or I would have purchase it instead. Amp is the LC-4.800 Here's the linkhttps://www.audiocontrol.com/car-audio/power-amplifiers/lc-4800/ . These are great sounding amps and they don't cost a fortune. Going with a good 4 channel aftermarket amp makes a big difference.

Taco sounds like you did well, would be an amazing system if you ever decide to toss a sub into the mix, even if its just a single 10 or 12, 2 8's, etc...
Nothing crazy, just balance everything out...

Theres alot of cheap decent amps, Recoil, Stinger,etc...
Think audio control / epic & stinger are same company....

Not in the ones with the prior infotainment system. There’s a bunch more power to the rears in my buddies 2016 with the stock HU. The one without the buttons that’s full touch screen.

I replaced with the focal sets front and back.

I also added a 10" Focal sub and a 600w Amp. no complaints with the sound at all.
