It may be controversial to run an oiled filter in a Toyota engine, but I’m another one with an oiled aFe and prefilter sock. I have never seen any fine dust in my intake tube after the filter.

good to know thanks for the input. I just ordered the aFe pro guard 7 + pre filter sock thing so I’m hopeful that will nip the issue

Petronix is actually who acquired Doug Thorley some time back. I doubt they are CARB approved but if they are, let me know. I need to do manifold replacements because the cats on these have been junk for some time now.

No official tracking…. But pics supposedly from shipping prep. We’ll see. And a different design from the website. Also being offered free Dyno tuning now. But one step at a time. I need an actual tracking number.

You're the first to buy one. "Build to order" LMAO!!! Just given you a hard time.
This design look interesting. Huge intake relocation, it look like. Possibly a larger intercooler?

im gonna have to see if i have room on the right side to add a fan like you did here. I definetly have room on the left for a pusher fan. My plan was to wire them to a simple toggle switch & relay for manual control. Did you ever end up adding a second fan or just that singular one? Still holding up?

I didn't, but still want to do something to help my system. Every now and then I'll get some rising temps during the summer.. but I also think my T stat needs to be replaced as I have a small leak at the housing so I need to start there.

I remember you mentioning it those years ago. I've been slacking on doing this on my end as well. Only difference is I've replaced the entire cooling system, not to mention the entire engine and still have an overheating issue at idle in hot conditions with AC on :rofl:New engine or not doesn't matter if there isn't any airflow!!!

I think I'm going to do something very similar to what @nudavinci64 did. I'm hoping I can jam a 10" pusher fan on the left side of the rad and that it will push enough air through the rad during those conditions to keep the temps where they should be.

Looking at these two options right now for the 10":

Mishimoto Slim Electric Fan 10 | Mishimoto

    Race Line, High-Flow Fan, 10 | Mishimoto

And maybe this 6" on the right side if I determine I can get it to fit: Mishimoto Slim Electric Fan 6 | Mishimoto

Same.. that's been on the list but it's low on priority over everything else. My truck was just down for like 4 months while I rebuilt the entire rear end piece by piece.

That's what I was going to run.. Mishi + pusher + aux cooler and fan for the trans.

Yah this is the JBA shorty setup we were trying to get when we were going after them. The DT are all or dong approval but doubt it will ever happen. JBA stopped selling this set due to low sales. Hence a unicorn set of CA legal shorties as they had the carb EO while they were for sale. I found the letter for it and you can see the carb eo number in the picture.

Oh right! Excuse me. Yeah they ran JBA. I confused the two. Wasn't eh problem with JBA that they were using inferior steel which was prone to rusting on the inside? I can't remember but it was something a long the lines wasn't it?

Maybe but it’s the only CARB EO in existence for CA. I talked to them a few years back and they stopped selling due to low sales.

Does anybody have some quick links or details on why the Bully Dog flash tune is actually not recommended? (actual forum posts of issues?) I keep seeing it parroted everywhere that the TRD dealer flash is much better and the BD could run lean. HPTuners seems too complicated and I don't want the extra tuning features. I want to bolt on and go.

I just find it hard to believe the Magnuson proprietary BD flash kit they sell with the supercharger could possibly be messed up haha. I would have thought that would be the safest option out there.

For background I'm Magnuson/TRD shopping and just want to bolt a stock kit on and not mess with it and I don't want any additional power or tuning features. I'm willing to install AFR/Boost gauges for monitoring purposes.

It will work fine but the tune on it could be better. You can just get the TRD flash from just dsm with no other tuning. When mag using took over after Toyota stopped they did not carry Toyotas TRD tune. If your not in CA you will save $500 on the setup if they still sell a tuner version then have OTT flags the ECU. You’ll get it back in a couple days. just DSM turned mine around fast. Still bolt on and go. If you send out ECU when you start won’t have any real downtime. Also gives option for some extra time at the time to help with some basics and trans settings but at min TRD flash.

I’ve got a Ucon I’ll be selling soon, apologies in advance for the hijack. Personally, I’m in the hptuners camp, but it does take a learning curve to get used to how it works, plus the expense. IMO the ucon worked well for what I had at the time, I just outgrew it.

You can also visit one of our retailers and not have to buy any hardware or do any tuning, they can literally do it all for you. And you get the same file you would if you worked directly with me, because they work directly with me :)
