Depends on what Pentax has when I decide to upgrade, I'm open to any brand.

That camera sure looks good, but I'm not even going to look up the specs, I don't want to get tempted with anything right now :p

K-x shoots up to 1/6000 s which is pretty fast, but that does not mean I can always use it, if I had taken the pics any faster I would have sacrificed
some quality, but yes focus was part of the issue, AF could not keep up with the boats, those things are pretty damn fast and unpredictable. I could have squeezed a bit more speed if I had removed the cheap CPL I had on.

50-70mph but remember its a combination of their movement plus mine (shaking), I tried panning in some of them but I need more practice at that, I'll see when they have a race again, they are def a challenge, any tips for when I try it again are welcome.

I think you might be misinterpreting what I said. Your minimum shutter speed is 1/500th of a second. Anywhere between that and the 1/3200th of a second shutter speed is fast enough to freeze the action. If you went higher than that (1/6000), you wouldn't sacrifice image quality at all.

I agree that taking the CPL off might help if it truly sucks.

Yes I would have sacrificed quality because I would have to gone up on the ISO to get the faster speed and since pictures are cropped, noise would have been more noticeable.

Believe me the speed is necessary unless you get good at panning, I have taken pictures of R/C Cars before which run slower, I always had to shoot around 1/2000, specially if shooting at 200mm, a more steady hand would def help
