I just looked up what the EFI additive is for, apparently it's just Toyota OEM injector/fuel system cleaner because they don't trust people in Hawaii in particular to use good gas.
Seems like you can buy good gas almost everywhere though? They only have E10 which I'd think is better. The less ethanol the better.
Going tomorrow to get the truck its first "service" where they're just going to look it over and rotate the tires, I'm such a good owner :D

ToyotaCare covers the tire rotation and other scheduled services at that point. Besides the usual upsells they might try and you bite on, you shouldn't be spending any money besides the fuel to get there and back again.

Dealer WOULDN'T deactivate the seatbelt chime, and couldn't get rid of the engine noise enhancer. Just found out that the manual transmission cars don't have the sound enhancer on looking it up, that's a higher trim thing for some reason.
Has anyone used OBDeleven? The service guy at the dealer told me I could use that to turn off the seatbelt chime no problem

just get the carista reader. It’s cheaper. How hard did they laugh at you when you asked them to be set up for a huge lawsuit?

…as well as re-grease the muffler bearings.

Like clockwork my dealer always handed me a coffee and buttered me up for the hard sell at the 25k service. Never before, and oddly never after. Well, I was never around to find out after 25k.

"Oh your 30 is just around the corner," they'll say. "That's the expensive one. It's literally cheaper to trade now, brah. I did the math and everything. Nobody likes a 30k truck, brah. That's like, old, pshyah, ya know what I'm sayin?"

They used to turn it off for free, and it's just the repeating super annoying chime. On my second gen, it still had the light and initial chime.

My owner's manual stated that the dealer could remove it; not really lawsuit territory.

The last two times I had my oil changed at the dealer - and after I expressly told them to just change it and let me get the hell out of there - they gave me a huge "courtesy list" of "missed maintenance" that needed performed immediately! Both lists were in excess of $5000 dollars - it must be my white hair that makes them think I'm stupid. The last time, the truck had new gear oil in the diffs and transfer case and new front rotors and pads - but they were on their list - with a "special warning" about my "dangerous" front brakes. Twice the zero's tore the outer ends of the passenger side wiper blades (easy to get to - one set only two months old) and once they tore into the glove box and actually took a picture of mesquite needles "fouling" my cabin air filter.

I've been trying to avoid buying that thing, I don't want to support some garbage subscription program even if it's for one month. I'd rather get something that's a tiny bit more expensive but doesn't turn into a paperweight if i don't give the man his money

If seatbelt warning bothers you bad, fasten seatbelt. Problem solved. Who said about BS don't trust Hawaii people filling good gas? My location get non-ethanol gasoline, I fill in my personal 4x4.:p

I took advantage of a promo sale on the Carista since it now supports wife's Mazda CX5. I went through the usuals, windows down, turn indicator, 3 rear seat chimes, 2 front seat chimes, seat vent fan settings and auto lock/unlock.
The most shocking was the engine sound enhancer! OMG they have so much sound pumped in its nuts! Way more than enhanced its a flat out lie! My Audi was an enhancement but it had a supercharged v6. If only the truck actually sounded like that outside.
I haven't noticed much difference with noise canceling so I left it on. I do like the quiet inside the cab.
I think they should disclose the engine sound on test drives. It sounds good but its clearly stolen from a 6 cylinder...:annoyed:
