2019 OR, 3rd party Pro grill.

I noticed multiple anytime front camera kits, which one is the best and works with my grill?

    Thanks.

Ok I can provide some info. I have gone through 3 different front cameras to find the one I really like.

    1. Do NOT use the one that comes with the anytime backup cam kit. The 'premium' camera is trash and has a tiny field of view.

The wiring system is with anytime backup cam. the camera I bought separately after the one I got with the kit was garbage and was able to work into the wiring as everything before the RCA connection is interchangeable.

Ultimately with a front cam you really need to be able to see at least a little of your front bumper to get a sense of distance.

I ended up getting this one: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07K2PKT8L?th=1

PARKVISION Car Rear View Reversing Multiview Backup Camera With True 180°Horizontal Super Wide Angle View/split view/top view modes,IP69K Waterproof Universal Vehicle Backup/front Camera System for 12V Cars, RVs, Pickups, Mini Trucks, etc.「SW-190」

it is a bit bigger than the smaller angled cameras but mounts well in the centre of the grill right below the row of letters and has a waaaay better field of view (180 degrees) and better up and down area as well making you able to see your bumper well to get a good appraisal for how far things actually are away.

Of note, I bought this in summer of 2022 and it is still working flawlessly through wet winters in the PNW.

Thank you King. Where did you purchase the wiring and dash button and all that? I want something plug and play. Also how'd you mount it?
Should I just buy a kit and toss the front camera for that one?

I got the whole kit from anytime backup cam - This specific one: https://www.anytimebackupcamera.com...ucts/anytime-backup-and-front-camera-full-kit

First I installed the camera that came with it, it was garbage. Then I bought a similar but higher quality one, that was ok for a bit but then I saw the one I linked above and it is leaps and bounds better than either of those.

There are a number of youtube videos walking through the install. A few toyota accessory sides (running4tacos, caliraised, etc) also sell the kits. Pay attention to the shitty field of view in the videos that show install of the included camera.

I used a drill to make a small hole in the grill under the letters where the wire ran then screwed in the camera mount. The whole wiring system though is a bigger job and entails running cables into the cabin through the firewall, then connecting the plug and play connectors in behind the head unit. It really isn't that bad. The only challenging part is getting the cable through the firewall, the rest was relatively painless.

The only caveat that I will add is that I drive a 2017 which doesn't have the safety sense sensor at the bottom centre of my grill. I"m sure you can work around that though.

    Thanks again.

The kit installs won't be a problem, I just didn't want to start from scratch crimping or soldering anything.

you won't have to do much of that, I did though go the extra mile of heat shrinking the cable connections that remained under the hood to ensure longer lasting weather protection. If I recall though, you will have to connect some loose wires, just not many. So be prepared for a little of that.

You can skim the install instructions from the company here: chrome-extension://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0...amera_-_Install_Instructions.pdf?v=1615938677

I used the instructions along with bringing my phone or a tablet into the vehicle and followed along with a youtube video as well.

What'd you do to swap the camera from the one that came with the kit?

The camera portion of the setup connects to the rest of the kit through a yellow RCA cable. So all I had to do was replace everything between that cable connection and the camera. The new camera comes with a different wiring setup that you simply plug into the RCA input under the hood

I bought the ABC kit from R4T, it had the same cam that is in Ceriksson's link.....my kit had a problem (short in the cam wire) and all I needed was a new bypass harness but R4T made me send back the entire kit; a minor pita.

They sent a whole new kit that came with the HD cam which looks goofy (lens in in a short barrel) but can be aimed......I still have yet to install the front cam.
My front bumper has a bull bar so the standard location won't work and I want to see the view before mounting it.
