Both helped immensely with my ordeal. Also, once you unbolt your factory pump, make sure the hardware fits through the mounting holes on the new pump.

Checked immediately when I removed the pump. No dice. Didn’t fit haha. That’s resolved now. Yeah I’ve been checking out @airkewled build. Great info. Thanks for the help.

Sweet! Thanks! I’ll probably be reaching out to you this afternoon. Great build you have going

HOWE TC pump is installed. Thanks again to those who helped with the install information.(if your close to murrieta come down for some fresh beer on tap at my house) Haha.

It all helped! Took it for a few test drives to make sure no leaks… now onto billet tie rods.

Anyone have a solution for boot covers when swapping to the billet tie rods?

A lot of people have tried a few different things, but I don't believe there was any consensus on boots. Assuming you mean to cover the heims?

IIRC, the Howe pump will help eliminate wander, or what some assume is bump steer? Have those that have performed the swap noticed this? I just passed 260k on the factory pump and I’m on 34s load range c Mickey Thompsons. I don’t remember this much wander from my previous Coopers also sized at 34”. I recently replaced the putter tie rods and wheel bearings, with a fresh alignment. It’s to the point where it’s making me crazy and I’m running out of ideas for corrective measures.

Road feedback is what you get when you hit a bump in the road and the wheel jerks, bump steer is where the toe changes due to suspension travel. Harry told me this when I was asking about the Howe pump a while ago. The pump will hope with the former, not the latter.

Wander is definitely alignment specs. I think most of the local shops give one side a touch more caster to prevent some of the pulling.

I would rotate your tires around first just to rule that out.

I can't leave anything well enough alone
Maybe you could post your alignment specs. I've had extreme caster both too low and too high cause really bad steering in general, and wander for sure. Not pull. When caster was too low, like less than 2.5, truck wouldn't want to go straight, it would just always wander depending on micro slope of the road, and which way the wind was blowing to tip the truck slightly, etc. Then I installed the JD LCA tab frame kit, and moved the wheels way forward, coupled with existing uppers that moved the UBJ back some, I had like 6 degrees or something crazy, and it was worse than too little. could hardly keep the truck straight, when I would initiate a turn on highway, truck would lean slightly, then dive into the corner hard, I actually had to counter steer back to straight just when making a lane change, etc. It was honestly not very drivable. Then, with adjustable upper, I moved UBJ forward, got caster to a reasonable number, slightly higher on passenger side (I can't remember what the numbers were exactly) and now the truck drives straight as arrow, no wander, no dive into turns, no drama. Something to think about.

Also tires, some really like to follow cracks and lines in the road, some don't, and a soft sidewall that allows the truck to lean more, will for sure make it wander more than a stiffer sidewall tire, of course depending on weight of the truck.

Are the shocks listed on the site singles or a pair? I'm assuming singles, since the price is so low. Also do they come with the 90 degree fittings? Anyone know? They have the Fox 2.5 14" non-dsc travel shocks listed for less than a lot of places. Assuming Fox Factory Race series.

    Gentlemen,

I greatly appreciate the input. Here is my recent alignment report card.

I don't know what exactly is your issue, but if it were me I'd shoot for more caster, and increase the toe in a little. That said, they are already at the recommended limit for that software. I've gone into the 4% range with good results. Usually, they make the passenger side caster a little higher than drivers side, this prevents the truck from pulling to the right on a crowned road, but doesn't generally make it pull left on a flat road. I also run a SPC upper, which some don't like for strength reasons. But they are good for dialing in exactly the specs you want to achieve, rather than being settling with what you can get.
