Nice looking truck for the age. I'm not familiar with what the east coast winters can do to the frame and underside, being from California. Mine is clean underneath but lived here the whole time.

Can you look at the receipts? It would be interesting to see what was done. Should be on the 3rd timing belt. Did they replace the water pump when the timing belt was done, etc...

I wouldn't be afraid of the mileage, at least out here, if they kept up with the maintenance.

I'm partial to that color, same as mine, but mine is an extra cab v6.
    Good luck

Here's my 2010 in April 21..lived in MA at least 9 years by that point and pretty sure all its life. Kept outside in that 9 years every day at least.

That's the bottom of the passenger side frame rail, where the exhaust hanger was. About a nickel sized hole.

That's the outside of the passenger rail right below where the door badge is. Was a little more than 15mm, I pushed on it with two fingers and it caved in. 1x2 inch hole. Look at the seam right behind the hole too..yikes.

I didn't look elsewhere underneath, the outside driver's rail was solid but not looking great either though. Could have been worse if I got underneath it or not. I only know I had the dealer note those 2 areas and was told when they find one area that meets the warranty they stop and document it for reframing..my surmise is it never got up on the lift.

I had an '09 F150 4x4. On the freeway it rode like shit. Lots of front end wobble. Went on F150 forums and discovered it was a common issue. I read instances where people replaced tons of parts to never resolve the issue. Glad I sold it, love my '03 taco, brings a smile to my face every time I drive it.

There could have been more underneath that I didn't see. My wife's 96 that was bought back had at least one spot I saw at the leaf spring area I could stick 2 fingers in. She said "it was worse underneath" but I'd already started walking away, was shaking thinking about what could have happened.

It's not just Tacoma frame rot in the North Eastern States. Everything that drives on the roads up there rots. My Ex had a 1980's Chevette when we first got together. The floor rot so bad I made her sell it. I was afraid to ride in the dam thing. Another friend of mine from Michigan had a mid 70's Monte Carlo the same way. I wouldn't ride in it either after the first time. Scary shit.

Anytime there’s a garage sale in the neighborhood or we have workers working on the property 9/10 times someone asks about selling my 2003.

I have a 1996 V6 Tacoma 4X4 w extended cab and manual transmission that I purchased in TX with 152k miles. I don't use it as much anymore and am considering selling this year. It has a beautiful paint job (glass off), new tires, Amsoil fluids, and the bed has been sprayed professionally. What do you all think is a fair asking price?

Forgot to mention this truck has power windows, power door locks and ice-cold AC. Apparently, the only difference between this truck and the SR5 is the sunroof.

I guess if someone handed me $17,500 I would probably have to say yes. :)

Below is a slightly older pic of the interior but overall remains the same. Truck has a Wheelskins steering wheel cover (it has settled since then and it's a nice and tight fit) and now has new windshield when it was repainted professionally. Please note, it has a fresh professional (glass off) paint job and the undercarriage was undercoated with fluid film.

Truck located in Geneva, IL (just outside of Chicago). Never seen snow, just relocated from TX to IL.

put a for sale sign in the window and roll it around the mean streets of ChicagoLand
not the mean, mean streets, mind you lol
just around the affluent areas where money talks and somebody out there misses their old taco that succumbed to the salt monster over a decade ago
    those folks are out there...

Yup, it really is amazing what these 1st gens are worth. I had an '03 Dbl Cab 4x4 that was totaled over 3 years ago & they gave me $18,500 for it. I was shocked at the amount they gave me... I still wish I had it, fantastic truck, so reliable..
