Tire Poll Firestone vs. Cooper's

Gotta pick a tire from Firestone cause a buddy can hook me up for 35% off that way i can not be in a bind and can purchase some rims for what money i'm saving. Anyway i gotta buy something they sale so no BFG A/T's
I'm wanting a aggressive tire for sure.. Maybe a 285 is what i'm looking at, what would be the best tire for the buck?

AT destination....what i roll and it's a solid tire nice quiet and good mileage......occasional offroad bbut stay away from mud

 

Cool thanks! Anyone run the new a/t3's or the S/T Maxx from Coopers? Wondering how they do

 

i have had both the Destination MT and the Cooper STT and both were great offroad...

on streets, the STTs did a lil better but they have siped lugs as opposed to the smooth lugs on the Destinations...

 

What are you going to be doing with your truck? Alot of offroad or mainly just for looks?

 

I race a lot of quads and junk so it'll be offroad quite a bit.. But also normal driving on the road as well.

 

Which ones do you all think is heavier out of the Destination and Cooper? I've looked for it but can't seem to find out off the site.

 

I've got the Destination A/T's and love them. But I recommend the Discoverer S/T's. They are the best bang for your buck. Great on the highway and will last a good while, not spinning the tires that is. And they preform well in snow and mud. They also look great on the truck as well.

 

Yeah i'm leaning more toward the Coopers as well but don't know if they come in the size i am looking for 275 on 17 inch rim.

 

Im running cooper stt in 285/70/17 and they are great tires. I have used the st also and they are a good aggressive all terrain tire. So far with a few thousand miles on the roads and quite a few in the woods, I am very happy with the coopers.

I like the ST's personally for an A/T choice and the STT's as a M/T choice

 

Sorry dude, the only pic I have with the STTs on is in my sig. Ill try to get more when I get back to land. Ill be sittin in the Gulf of Mexico for a few more days. The pics that ColtsTRD posted up are the tires though. I really like both of them but I needed the more aggressive of the two for where I go wheelin. And they last a long time. I got about 55k out of the STs on my old CJ5.

 

Personally, I really like the look of the new ST Maxx though I've yet to read a review. Based on the performance of other coopers I've run(old style ST's), I voted ST Maxx.

 

Cooper has my vote mainly because they are good tires, I'm kind of scared to purchase firestones since their nickname is maypops. although brigestone offers good aggressive tires. Cooper is good but they can be expensive as well.

 

Well now my luck he said he couldn't get the Coopers, Just Bridgstone and Firestone... Myself i don't feel like the Destination A/T Tire has enough Thread for the mud thread/beefy look for a 3" Lift.. I can get them (4) $556 dollars.. Or the M/T for about $636... Is the Mudd Terrains loud on pavement? What do you all think?

after 30,000 miles they do get a subtle hum but not annoying

 

I've got Discoverer ST on my truck. Love them, no problems. Work great in the snow (when I was in MT)

 

Anybody know which ones weight more out of the Rugged Trail that come stock on the Offroad Taco and the Destinations? I was trying to find what Ply each one was because i thought about stepping up to a Destination 285/70 if they didn't weight to much more than the Rugged Trails.

 

The st maxx weighs I think 60 lbs. I thought about running them but the weight made change my mind. Im thinking of running the discoverer at3.
