Got all my apps setup, got my storage setup, started transferring the movies from one to the other, seeing 180-200Mbps on a direct link between the 2 servers so maybe Sunday afternoon the transfer will be done.

Yeah, I went with the cheap Redux fans from Noctua and it was still $200. It's hard to find a good deal on good fans now.

But but but but, nVidia drivers are perfect. There's no way AMD is more stable now, right?

    :p

TBF this is what happens when you stick all your best software engineers on AI and leave consumer drivers to whoever is left at the office.

Nvidia's update issue appears to only affect 30 and 40 series cards. I'm sure a patch is on the way. 50 series gpu's are plugging along just fine. No discredit to AMD's gpu lineup. The more the gpu's available the better.

    ________

Unrelated, the Thermaltake swafan kit with the included fan hub is an older version and rgb only. Those older versions require dedicated software from Thermaltake. So that's out.

I ordered an ARGB splitter on Amazon. I think I can tie the bottom two fans in with the side three and make it color sync that way. There's still three
separate fan headers for power on the mobo. That would leave one left if I decide to put another fan on the back of the case. :plane: I did get a chance to plug it into the TV the other night and explore the bios. There's a fresh update available. :typing:

Yup. It's only 30 and 40 series. That post was a lot of sarcasm with the only real message being that the PC master race needs to drop the facade that nVidia drivers are flawless while AMD drivers are unusable. The reality is that they both make mistakes now. I have a hunch that between nVidia throwing 90% of their resources at data center cards and nVidia not supporting many new features between generations that mistakes are being made. It happens, but it shouldn't.

    :cookiemonster: The argb splitter works.

    IMG_0092.jpg

Also, I miscounted fan headers. They're all in use, so I can't add anymore to the back of the case without a fan hub or splitter. I think 11 is plenty though. :plane:

I'm catching up on some LTT and I caught something. Be a little wary of that PSU. Linus was able to get two of them to go boom while delivering in spec power to them. Now, the MSI only went boom after loading up the 3.3 volt rail, which is used now mostly by your audio chip, M.2 SSDs, and SATA SSDs and HDDs. If you don't run multiple drives, it's probably fine, but that might explain why it was in the bundle deal.

Check out the reviews of Corsair's rm1000x on Newegg. That was a runner up pick for me as it has more pcie and sata ports, but many said it arrived doa or failed within months. I don't think brand choice matters so much these days.

It's not brand as much as it is source. Most manufacturers are using third party manufacturers for their products and have been for a long time. I'm glad to see LTT commit to testing PSUs even though it won't make them any money.

I will say I feel like Seasonic is still the best manufacturer of PSUs out there, but their pricing reflects that.

Cybernetics doesn't test beyond the mandatory ATX 3.1 specifications. Surge load testing is only a recommended test, so they don't run it. Ultimately their goal is to set a better standard than 80 Plus, which they do well. There goal is not to test PSUs for potential realistic failure scenarios.

Not saying MSI is garbage, but LTT did get two of that specific model to do the magic smoke while staying within the recommended guidelines.

Something bought and paid for is worth running. I wouldn't return it. I'd run it. I wouldn't throw a bunch of M.2 drives or HDDs in my system though knowing the 3.3 volt rail is a potential failure point.

Also, sorry my American buddies. The new pricing on components is going to get real bad. It looks like tariffs are coming in on all the countries that manufacturers have moved to ove the years to avoid tariffs on China.
