That is pretty much what I’m looking for, except my bed panels don’t clear the sides as easily as it looks in that video.

You could talk to Mario at AT Overland. I have a Summit and it uses the single platform bed with two struts to lift out of the way. I've found AT to be very helpful with parts requests and etc.

Simple way is bolting the two bed panels together, then drilling a hole in the panel for some sort of chain. Lift it and chain it to the roof. Put an eyelet or some kind of hole to attach to.

That's what it looks like the video linked above has done. My issue is that the sides of my bed panels don't easily clear the locknuts on the side. This makes lifting them up kind of finicky. I might be doing it wrong though. I'll have to fool around in there once this snow passes.

Would you be able to share your cabinets width (left and right) with me? I am trying to decide whether I can narrow the right side a bit so i can have couple more inches passthrough width.
This is the tacoma's kent 1.0 dimension.

Will do, I’ll get you the dims. You’ll be pretty limited with the Tacoma bed on with. If you plan on sitting on drivers side bench, keep in mind 12” is a little uncomfortable when you have the bed rails protruding out and into your neck/back.

I had the same issue but after learning how to lift it on one corner first it hasn’t been too bad getting used to clearing the bolts. Much better than sliding the panels.

I stack two panels together, all mattress in front, lift the front mattresses, then manhandle the bed panels up enough reaching through them to clear the front bolts.

So you literally just bolted them together and didn’t have any issues clearing the locknuts, huh? That makes me optimistic. My backup plan was just cut some scrap 3/4” ply to specs and start from scratch, but plywood be hella expensive these days lol

Nice! How much room towards the front does this provide?

Yep just bolted them together with 4 bolts. They do not clear it perfect when lifting straight up, you have to lift one side slightly and pull a corner up first to clear them, then there is no issues. It takes a little getting used to, but once you do its no big deal and is worth it in my opinion. If you used plywood or something else, taking off a 1/2 inch from the width of these panels would probably be perfect.

Definitely enough for some pillows, backpacks, etc. You can adjust the room by the length of paracord and what angle you want the panels to sit while attached to the roof.

Its a huge bummer. I love the truck but moving places and finally having the opportunity to park in the garage, I really want to tuck it away every night if I can. But we're still enjoying it a lot, multiple trips planned! Maybe I can convince Thomas to build a no overhang pop up camper lol.
