    Morning all :pccoffee:

Been taking advantage of the available overtime at work. The "B" side of 3rd shift only has two people so Friday and yesterday morning I clocked in at 2:24am and left at 3:00pm :bananadead:

Walked in Friday to an utter shitshow and thought to myself "well this was stupid", but me and another guy on my shift got everything back together rather quickly after we got there. Luckily Saturday was pretty chill.

Might treat the truck to some Method wheels after all this, not sure

Yea I gotta stop with the darn constant truck swapping

I really, really like this one. I think Toyota did a really good job on the 4th gen. Yes everyone is up in arms over the turbo 4 cylinder, but I love it.

Although my co-worker joked the other day saying I am due for a new truck since I just put tires on it. Past couple trucks I put tires on a truck and then trade it in :anonymous:

Allowing the turbo to idle down after a run and regular oil changes will probably go a long way to keep that turbo engine spooling for a long time.

The road I take coming home from work is a lower speed windy road, so it'll have some time to cool off. Turbo is water cooled so that helps as well. I do notice that after roughly 4,000 miles the oil is pretty funky smelling/looking. Just the nature of direct injected turbo engines. Keeping with a 6 month interval which is around 4-5K miles for me. Going to go to a 0w30 once my free changes are over. Well, actually, I gotta do the one in between the free ones. I let the dealer do the first oil change at 4,012 miles out of pocket and they charged $87 o_O

How many quarts? Full synth I assume.

No such thing in my summer toy :burnrubber:

    Unless it’s in a residential neighborhood…

Roughly 6 quart fill. The Camry we have with the A25 which is what the 2.4T is based off of only takes 4.5-4.8qt's. Guess they put a bigger pan on it for the turbo/extra load/etc.

Unfortunately it's a residential neighborhood so no fun on that road. Too many blind curves to "safely" do anything like that anyways. Now my road is a friggin' race track. The 55mph is only a suggestion

Another good day at the farm....It seems like we are never going to get enough cleared for the homesite. The former resident that used to live in the old house stopped by last week and gave us a pecan tree.

I hear ya. We used to have a place that was turning into an air bnb and vrbo community. The main street was supposed to be 20 mph and the town put up one of those flashing radar speed signs. They also redid the side walks to remove the grassy strip between the side walk and curb so the sudewalk was right there next to the road.

We routinely saw that sign flashing 50 and above. Mind you this is walking with dogs right next to the road. We started sending pics of it to the town manager and police chief. Deaf ears…. We were gonna cause a huge stink but ended up just selling the property.

The thing about short term renters is that they’re vacationers who don’t give a crap about speeding, fireworks at 2:30 in the morning, littering…

Apologies for the tangent.. back to having a pleasant Sunday

We have one of those signs that show speed in town. I call it the high score sign :anonymous:

People didn't find my comment like that very funny on the towns Facebook page

This and unless the tech has come a long way, inspecting the exhaust side of the turbos with some sort of regularity and oiler. Most turbos I’ve seen were ate up by carbon unloading and poor oil delivery on the main bearing. Not using your turbo and short runs builds carbon that ‘unloads’ on highway runs, where folks typically hit the turbo. That unburned carbon unloads into the turbo damaging the outer vanes. Decreased performance and $$$ for a rebuild.

but they i'm sure they would mind if there's a rock ballad being played over a boom box for the previous vacationer at 4:30 every morning...

personally, i'm on the lookout for one of those old portable basketball hoops. i want to make a flag man stand with the kill counts from death race 2000.

also considering making some really aggressive-looking spikes out of pool noodles, painting them silver, and tapcons to the road... it's out of hand when i can hear even the cops hit 4th gear on my street...

Seems like the only time I have a chance to work with tools outside of work is fixing things my kids have broken or putting things together for them. But all good my little man turned 1 Friday and I got to spend the weekend with the family so all good.

    Good morning shop folk :hattip:

Had a great visit with my bud, who I’ve know since high school , his wife and son whose graduating with his aerospace engineering BS this year. We hung out at his mother’s house just like back in the day with his 81 year old mom and 93 year old dad. His dad’s slowed down a bit but they were all the same as they were when I last did this about 10 years ago. Such a nice evening.

I hope you all had great weekend too
