Apologies in advance for my ignorance, but if this does not protect the rear window like a traditional headache rack, what's the purpose?
    Extra mole panel space?

    Looks pretty cool to me.
could probably secure stuff to it
Lots of things on vehicles have no function.
fancy wheels and lug nuts, painted calipers etc
my vette has front and rear spoiler but I never go fast enough for them to be any actual use

None to speak of, just enjoying it for the moment.
Lug nuts tend to be a pretty valuable item since the wheels don't stay in place without them and most vehicles perform better with the wheels attached.
Your Vette's spoilers surely have a function and isn't it a felony to own a vette and NOT test those things (At very high speed) If not a felony surely it is a crime against humanity at the very least...

Pretty sure the adjective fancy applied to the lug nuts as well.
Regardless, it’s equally illegal to own an OR and never use MTS or crawl, but that describes me.

    oh man
I didn't say or mean lug nuts were unnecessary
"fancy wheels and lug nuts" don't have any mechanical function
if I need to spell it out I meant fancy wheels such as chrome, polished, bronze, etc, do you know what etc means ??
and fancy lug nuts such as chrome, polished, bronze don't have any actual function
the spoilers on my vette aren't functional until way way over legal limits and I'm no sissy but also am responsible
spoilers on the vette are track only and I don't do that any more

Mostly for looks, don’t know what I’ll do with it yet. Had a mid height bed rack on it before, I just thought I would see if this works out.

Mainly for looks, thinking about putting some scene lights on it later. Got a great deal so I thought I would try it out.

Whenever I see this foam used in places that get extremely hot, like a dashboard or other places in a vehicle interior, I picture the foam breaking down and turning to powder.

    This and that
    Like inside the door panel.

That stuff that you look at and it turns to dust and disappears.

Nah, or at least I'm pretty sure, it is UV that fairly quickly turns it to dust. Heat may eventually, but talking 10+ years. The glue, on the other hand, can dry up from heat, but used where it is pinched in place; is probably not an issue.

I’ve seen a bunch of ‘24 owners selling theirs and was wondering about getting one of their take-offs for my ‘23. Thanks for the fit update.

@TacoTime55 Where did you get the kit and how much to install it if you don't mind me asking? I was looking into getting this done to my taco as well.

I hear you. My grandson is getting ready to take his driver’s test and we are working on parallel parking. Where we live, it’s just about a useless task.

    Good morning MrMustacho!

I bought mine from the dealership...just the shocks, 1" blocks for the leaf springs, u-bolts and brackets for the brake lines.

It's part of the TRD Lift Kit but since I bought an aftermarket grill, I just needed the shocks.

I'm also having the dealership do the install...on April 1st (this Tue) as a matter of fact...I'm excited!

I paid for the parts separately which included military discount.

Also worked with the Service Manager for Labor charges...which also includes military discount.

Post #312 shows the parts I ordered/paid for and pricing.

My orbital buffer came with a foam pad that you put the type of bonnet (terry cloth, microfiber etc) over and acts as a backer. I keep the buffer in my garage that get hot in the summer albeit out of the sunlight. Every 3 or 4 years I have to replace it because it falls apart. I had some foam tape that is used to mount truck caps that did the same thing. This is what I’m basing my comment on.

I could see that happening I'll keep my eye on it. Luckily I got about 24' of it as replacement.
