Bought a new Tacoma today, it’s gold certified and I loved everything about it until now. But I just noticed the front headlight on drivers side is missing bulbs entirely. I’m just a bit skeptical at this point about everything . The car was gold certified so it should have been checked that these headlights exist and are functional. I know this may sound extreme but if they missed something as obvious as that I’m wondering what else they missed. I paid extra for that piece of mind of getting a certified vehicle. Now that piece of mind is gone. Thoughts ?

It’s used but Toyota has some certification program for used cars where they go through a 160 point inspection to make sure the car is mechanically sound. This includes having bulbs and making sure the exterior is fine, etc

Thats all words... sounds good... 160 point. Sells cars.

Chances are the high school drop out/lube guy that flashed thru the check off sheet made his flat rate in half the time. Having witnessed this in more than one dealership I've worked for.

Go back, raise hell but be professional, express your concerns.....
Maybe at the end of the day you will get something extra for nothing, their way of trying to make you solid & gain your trust....

It's cold comfort, but when I took delivery of my brand new '18 SR six years ago, they hand me the keys, I get in, start it, and the washer fluid low is beeping on the cluster. While I'm waiting for someone to fetch a jug of fluid, I notice swirl marks on the tailgate like some hastily tried to buff out some scratches (which they didn't accomplish). They tried making it all better by offering me a free coffee.

That is what happens when you give away pieces of your mind. In the future, only pay extra for peace of mind and everything will be intact and complete...

As far as the bulbs: take it back and ask them to install them -and- actually check all of the others (inside and out).

This is so not a big deal. Calm your ass down, take it back and have them install the bulbs and then drive and enjoy your taco.
You might ask for a printed list of what’s checked out and included in the gold certified deal. If they can’t or won’t provide that then rest assured that you paid extra for absolutely nothing.

I'd take it back and get bulbs put in, maybe ask if they can go through all 160 points again and NOT pencil-whip it this time. I'd make sure that the bulbs are appropriate to the vehicle's OEM housing, either LED or Halogen.

And then I'd take it home and change all of the fluids.

lol your first post and subsequent 2 posts are to complain about a missing light bulb. I couldn’t imagine a bigger nothing to complain about than one single light bulb missing. No hi I’m new to TW great to be here. No I got my first taco and I love it. No picture of your taco, no information about your taco or you. Instead I got a new taco and it missing a light bulb and my pantys are in a bunch. The biggest WTF most inconsequential nothing burger imaginable. I’m kind of getting the feeling you live in the basement and………

Certified is a game dealers play, like roulette, that is weighted in their favor.

Decent miles, minimal reconditioning / cleanup, offer some warranty, sell for a higher price.

99% of the time they never have a covered service issue. Like selling life insurance to immortals. Money maker.
