Those were the days of Keith Godchaux. Was Donna singing at that show? I love a good Donna wail. Bruce Hornsby was on the piano for my first show at the Oakland Colosseum. Songs with Pig Pen on the piano are my favorites.

The pour went ok - technically easy. I calculated the volume of the gap and added 10%. I had no leaks and just a little spillage

The bad news I didn’t mix enough

The good news is I didn’t mix enough

I seemingly didn’t get the color right so I will have the wife mix the color and I will fill the rest. Will leave end this color most likely

I think plastic cup measure lines are very approximate and more loss in cups than anticipated

That's a horrible idea. What time?
So while the build continues, I took a break from brush clearing to make my first project at the new house. Made a poplar bench to take break on.

I would go with Rubio Monocoat like all the YouTubers! Should not cost too much.

Well I got some shop time today. Sanded the faces to 180 grit. Then got a coat of blo on these. I still have about as many to sand and oil yet. I think next Batch I'll leave some plain and not burn the edges.

Is there still a significant demand for those at the same church, or are they finding their way now to other churches? Not that the work is any less impressive, but it seemed the demand would go down a bit eventually.

These large crosses are mostly for my church and all proceeds go to the church benevolence fund. I have sold some outside of the church and donated the money to the fund.
The smaller crosses and necklaces I give away everywhere. A Christian friend has asked me to make a batch for his church of the small crosses. I may do that if I can find the time to do it.

So the laminate epoxy is rock solid on my first long shelf. I know it’s obviously not yet a perfectly square rectangle ~1.5x7x46 inches

    Will this work?

    1) Run one side through planer
    2) That newly planed face against fence of jointer then joint one edge
    3) That new edge against table saw fence and rip parallel
    4) Run unplaned face through planer
    5) cut ends square to edge

Does this make sense? Step 4 should make face perpendicular to other face, no?

my jointer is only 6” hence my dilemma

No project this weekend, so I paid some attention to the table on my bandsaw.

Next, I need to sharpen my chisels. I really don’t like that job.

Or make a planer sled. I watched YouTube videos and patterned mine after one I saw. Pretty simple design that works.

I use paste wax and it works pretty well in our climate. Shop is unheated so everything cast iron likes to sweat alot.

Perfect, same climate as me then. I used my benchtop vice this weekend for a quick project and it’s got a nice layer of surface rust. I’ll add it to the shopping list tonight.

Same thing happened to one of my bridgeport vises. I figured it would have enough residual oil but I guess not.

    My process is
    1) wet sand with 400 grit to deal with the rusty spots
    2) scrub with Barkeeper’s friend and a wet rag
    3) Apply paste wax and buff

If I keep it waxed, I don’t get rust spots. You can see that I am not very good at keeping it waxed.

Most square I ever made any piece of wood

Least amount I trust my planer. Kinda scary screwy. I set for a light pass and friggen starts hogging wood.
