I’m looking into what roof rack options I have for my SR5. I really like the Westcott Designs rack but I noticed that my SR5 doesn’t have middle mount points on the roof. If I went that route, would it have to be drilled?

Also, If anyone has any low wind noise rack recommendations that don’t require a middle mount point, let me know.

    Thanks!

Got a Prinsu for under $500 on a Black Friday sale. Uses only factory mount points, bit of a pain to install but it’s pretty awesome and I don’t really notice wind noise unless it’s windy out. Main use is for when I go camping to put stuff up there. Maybe for fishing poles/kayaks in the future.

Nice! Does anyone here have the Westcott rack? I’m thinking that maybe you don’t have to use the center of side rail bolts if you don’t have them. If anyone can confirm that would be awesome!!

agreed, I almost went with the UpTop but I wasn’t a fan of the crossbars they use with this particular rack (their Kilo product line). That being said, if most of the stuff you plan on using a rack for can utilize through-bolt mounting vs traditional crossbar mounting, this is 100% the rack for you.

What middle points are you talking about?

Actually I just realized that the Tacoma in the install video is a 2/3 gen haha. That’s on me for not catching that in the video description.

Here is the link to that video. it is about four minutes and 52 seconds in it when he shows that, but like I said, this is an older model Tacoma in the video. I understand now that the fourth GEN does not have this middle screw so I am good to go!

Glad you could figure it out, my cali raised rack has a middle "point" but it's just a bracket with a rubber bumper on bottom to help support the rack and any weight I throw on it.
