This just about says it all.

 

Interesting. Nice big wood/bar for leverage. I can see this working nicely on anything other than ringshank nails or screws. It relies on a very small pivot point. I could see that busting right through punky deck boards. It's only one directional too.

I have the one below and the head pivots for pushing and/or pulling. It's nice when your up against the house and railings. And you use the joist as the leverage point. It's slightly rounded so it sort of rolls. And it has a built in nail/screw puller.

24 hours no input. What the hell is going on around here. I mean...I know we're 'stockers', which indicates from the jump that we're content with the status quo, not looking to shake things up, we'll 'make do', but seriously. Nobody has anything happening???

We're hosting a bridal shower for my fiance's daughter on Saturday. 40 ppl in the house. So, naturally, 'we' decided to essentially remodel everything in the last two weeks. A little extra stress in our lives. The daughter is an anxious mess. Mom is a bit tweaked as well. I've still got PMS because the shop that was gonna turn around my motorcycles exhaust (cerakote) in 1-2 weeks is at 4 weeks and counting.

I've gone nuts with birdfeeders. Our vinyl village is utterly bereft of personality/color/wildlife. I'm mixing things up. Put up some birdfeeders, which eventually brought birds (there were nearly none) but it also brought mice. I mounted it too close to the deck. So, I moved it to the middle of the yard. Now we're getting ALL the birds, and the mice have to 'run the gauntlet' into the yard for seed, so now we've got a Coopers' Hawk who's taken up residence in the neighbors tree. Added a piliated paddle to the mix because those guys were contorting themselves to feed from the standard feeder. Now it's quite the mix out there and my fiancé, who's been rolling her eyes at my efforts, is commenting on 'all the colors'

And last. Why invest in good tools? Here's my 1860's Henry Disston tri-square. Rosewood, dbl brass face, original intact spirit level. Had it in service on one of decorating projects. Something very satisfying about using something for it's itended purpose 160 years after it was added to a craftsmans quiver. I know the provenance because the carpenter this belonged to left all his tools to his young Swedish neighbor and friend just starting out when he died in the early 1900's. That guy left them to his son when he died in 1961 at 103. That guy left them to me when he died in 2013 at 107.

BUT, BUT, BUT, WHYYYY?

 

Just a boring weekend inside, and work today cut a little short by rain.

I bought new work boots, Irish Setter because the Red Wings that I liked were either too much boot or not enough. We'll see if I get two or even three years out of them. I take good care of my boots but the build quality has not been great lately, I'm hoping these do well. My last pair were a bust, a pair of Meindl San Ramon boots that replaced an identical pair that lasted four years, but the second pair failed badly after 5 months and I'm not sure if I got super lucky with the first or got a bad pair with the second. They're more than I get reimbursed so I'm not putting my own money in the pot this time.

Other than that I'm buying a few things to get started on fluids for the truck. Going to do the differentials and transfer case, than a drain and fill on the AT, radiator and eventually brakes. I'm still learning and I haven't done brakes in more than 10 years so I'm starting with easy stuff to get some confidence.

I want to buy a breaker bar and torque wrench, but I don't have the money for top shelf at the moment. Any recommendations on middle of the road brands?

 

Been busy with stuff.

 

I'm still tinkering in the garage. Doing all the paint finishes and a couple drywall and receptacle patches. Definitely not perfect by any means, but better than everything was before.

 

I have no Toyota related stuff to post about unless someone wants to see pics of the rotted frame under my 3rd gen T4R.

I've been playing with the rust bucket firewood truck; new lower ball joints, inner/outer tie rods, idler arm and modifying a jerp XJ intermediate steering shaft to work on the firewood truck. The stock rag joint was so far gone, the 2 yokes were hitting each other and turning the input shaft on the steering gear box. It was a classic "there's yer problem, lady" when I saw that hot mess.



started out life as a jerp part, now identifies as a GMC part.

Maintenance on the power equipment.
Working on the Nova getting ready for show season. Pulled the slapper bars off, cleaned, repainted and put em back on.

Removing those stoopit fiber ceiling tiles in one half of the basement couple rows at a time.
Some moron at one time thought it was a good idea to prevent access to pipes, wires and things.
They gotta go.
Bird feeding season has ended after one of the bears thrashed the peanut feeder the other night.
Turkey season is still a month away, but it's nice to see that they're cruising around my place.
That's all I got.
