    I'll be honest.

The cylinder rebuild is not the most notable part of this pic that impressed me.

The fact that the fire extinguisher is within reach is the most important thing I noticed.

I won't lie. My biggest fear is a fire.

I won't leave the shop until 30 minutes after welding or torching.

I respect that, I'm the same way.
If I can I do that work outside on the paved forecourt.

At my work the shop rule (mine) was "no welding after lunch" unless it was a production emergency.
If something was going to sit and smolder I figured it would be discovered before the end of the day.

We have to fill out fire watch paperwork at work doing any welding. It used to be a 30 minute watch, but something must have really gone down as now it's an hour o_O

We usually get alerts for arms caught in equipment in our email, but I think I've missed the building on fire one.

I did almost catch a power curve on fire welding back in a support bar. All was going good till I decided to get one last weld in. Hot spawl got on some grease and "poof"! Not much paperwork for discharging a fire extinguisher, but it was a mess to clean up :anonymous:

Its common by me for both farmers and just homeowners to do "controlled" burns. Farmers of their field and home owners of irrigation ditches. Even the county will burn the irrigation ditches every so often.

And every year its amazing how many times the fire department gets called for burns that got out of control. So many people end up with half burned yards and crap.

Been so many out of control burns this year around here. Every time I'm in the garage the scanner is going off for one it seems. I got a pile of scrap lumber and tree limbs I need to burn off, but there's no way I'm gonna attempt it right now.

Been playing around with this zero turn.

I picked it up 2 years ago. It was litterally a bucket case. It's been sitting besides the shop until now.

With my random parts I'm hoping able to cobble it together with all my random parts.

I scrapped out out an Exmark unit last year. It had a good hydro system, but everything else was shot. Exmark and Toro are the same company, just different factories.

I'm gonna "Frankenstien" the Exmark system to work in a toro chasis. We will see if it works. Don't we all love a mystery?

    Standby...

Morning y'all, serviced the JD mower Saturday. All was good till I checked the drive belt, it's loose so that's on the way. Figured that since I'm changing that one I might as well change the deck belt also and hold onto both as backup until the next time they are changed.
Got my filters motor oil and hydrostatic oil for the B7100 big maintenance. Probably in the next couple of weeks.

Depends on what kind of machine it is, there are several different grades available.

What kind of machine do you have?

I have several hanging in several places around the shop. There are 2 sitting on the work bench, I moved some stuff and haven't hung them back up yet. They won't be far when I do hang them.

I have to do most of my welding and fab work in my garage attached to my house. I can’t lie it makes me nervous everytime I do it I’ll work outside when I can. I’d do a lot more of it if I had a dedicated shop

Planing on buying 1 this year, but gotta wait on some medical bills first.

Not uncommon for us to burn brush.

We are in a NO BURN BAN because of how dry and how so much timber fell from the hurricane. Got some bad wildfires going on right now.

The township decided a couple days to lift the ban and told people to "use common sense". THAT didn't go very well

Virginia burn law says from February 15th through April 30th you can burn from 4pm until midnight. However, there may be a full restriction at the moment.
