Funny for that intersection being near where I live and controlled plus many near by getting roundabouts.

You also chose the drunkest state in the union so I smile for some caution that is needed overall.
In that example it's also a state where slower traffic keep right is law. Our deliver fleet instructions shaped by liability and insurers are that you don't turn right on red when any traffic is near. It is also my mindset for once hauling combustibles behind my Kenworth, driving kids in a school bus, and our losing a family member to a jerk and dumb pair of drivers.

Genuine question- if the person making a u-turn in on the road that has a green light, and the person making a right is on the road that has a red light, why on earth would the u-turner yield to the traffic with the red light?

I may not be correctly picturing the scenario that you’re thinking of though but if so, the u-turner has the right of way (contingent upon state law of course).

People will pull out of parking lots not always an intersection. Don't change lanes at an intersection, most people do a rolling stop on red. There are many times people can't make the right and and stay in the right lane. Trust me the folks I'm talking about are not doing it the right way.

People and their casual lack of signaling when changing lanes and sitting at a light to turn and not having your blinker before the light changes. All you got to do is flick the stalk if you can't do that you are lazy incompetent or both.

I moved from the DC area to a shmedium city where the drivers are often frustrating overpolite, so sometimes a standard way of driving can feel aggressive here lol.

Often the right turn gets a green, but even if there light is red in Washington U-turns get lowest zero right of way priveleges. Per RCW 46.61.295 "The driver of any vehicle shall not turn such vehicle so as to proceed in the opposite direction unless such movement can be made in safety and without interfering with other traffic." Other traffic in this case would include those making a lawful right on red.

Now in our example intersection (one that was randomly chosen didn't mean to single out Wisconsin), it appears that there would be no yield to right turns, even if they had a green. Per Wisconsin law U-turners only have to yield "to any vehicle approaching from the opposite direction."

There’s 3 groups of bad drivers that piss me off and make me crazy..
The stop sign runners who think stop means slow down a little but roll it or blow through the stop sign.
The weavers and chronic lane changers who think they must get ahead of everyone else and screw all the people they cut off and have to hit the brakes to avoid the bastards.
The texters and phone talkers who are oblivious to all the others around them. Add to that group the women drivers (sorry ladies) who apply makeup while driving during morning commute.
And one more group, the tail gaters. Wish my truck had a device to lay down spike strips that would take out all 4 tires of the Ass….s
And I must admit males are the worst offenders with the exception of the makeup thing.
I’d like to see traffic ticket fines go up 10x .
One last last thing, I’d like to see driving under the influence $10,000 fine, 6 months in jail, license suspension 5 years. Other countries have similar and even harsher punishments and have almost 0 dui violations. (I had 2 people close to me killed by a “buzzed” driver)

Ahhh I gotcha- That makes 100% sense, appreciate the clarification.

I better go check CA vehicle code and make sure I've not been inadvertently pulling u-turns like an ignorant asshole :frusty:

You’ve never made an error on the road ever?

And I know commercial pilots. They make mistakes too.

    In AZ...

    1. everyone drives 20+ over the limit including construction zones
    2. can't stay in their lane
    3. plays with their phone
    4. misses the light because their putting on makeup
    5. road ragers because it's hot out or their just that guy
    6. everyone carries, because it's the Wild West
    7. won't speed up on on ramps and
    8. won't move to let others merge on the freeway
    9. passes on the right on the freeway

That's just a few. You take your life in your hands every time you drive out here. It's bonkers and a rat race. :jpow:

I see this one a lot too,

    10. stops and holds up traffic thinking it's right on red not paying attention to the fact that it's changed and now there's a green arrow.

I usually do a very polite beep....beep just to get these people's attention.

Years ago I got pulled over on a road that people drive on to go fast. I was a good couple miles away before the stop can't complain as I didn't get a ticket. Maybe 30 or 40 over in a 50. Nowadays the transit bus rocks up and down that road doing at least 70 passing other motorists.

I see people not realizing they can make a left on a green provided there is no red arrow this is when there is no on coming traffic.

I forgot all about it, the other week a saw three tractor trailers make a left on a red arrow when thru traffic has the right of away. First I thought both lights might have been displaying a green light. Nope the two opposing lanes going thru had to make a complete stop to avoid hitting the last truck.

It's a BS too short left turn cycle, used to be two turn lanes which was fine maybe ten years ago it was reduced to one lane with minimal room for the turn lane blocking the left thru lane. Which was fine until the bridge collapse detouring port traffic through this intersection. Now it needs to be widen back to two lanes.

I've driven lots of states. CA isn't the worst. maybe one of the most selfish. very little considerations and courtesy for sure. dicks. but zipping thru Los Angeles is kinda crazy. no turn signals, ever. nobody backs off and lets you in. as a result, everyone is insane and aggressive. if you get into the rhythm. all good.

florida and Texas are most of my near misses. head on a swivel.

Anyone who drives a BMW of any kind, an Audi of any kind, a riceburner/fart can/2 Fast 2 Furious type of shitbox & a Nissan Altima that looks like it's lived its whole life in Mission Hill, I automatically assume cannot operate a motor vehicle to save their lives, and roughly 98.7% of the time, I'm correct.
