Hamilton Upgrade Kit for CarPlay® and Android Auto

I should have said that my Entune 2.0 screen in my 2017 only displays eight apps per screen. Larger screens display more.

 

Very interested to hear more users experiences. I have a basic non-JBL OEM radio and would like Apple Car-Play for the Podcast app, Spotify, Google Maps or Waze.

 

Has your OBD Fusion app been updated? A quick search shows the app added CarPlay support in 2024. What are you seeing when you run the app in CarPlay?.. or is the icon missing? TIA

 

I figured it out with a fresh set of eyes this morning. Apparently the CarPlay support with OBD is not with dashboards. You can configure pid lists and it will show you textual data. But that’s it for now. Time for a developer product improvement request.

 

How did you get the Sirius/XM module back in? I have it taped to the bottom and can't get the head unit, Hamilton module, and XM module back in the dash with all the cables.

 

I have the Carsync version, so *maybe* it’s a little smaller?

It was definitely a tight squeeze. One thing that might help is that I pulled loose the ac controls and moved that out of the way. That gave me room to sort of reach behind from below and guide the cables back.

With the Carsync module, I put it below the XM module.

 

Interesting Although for $300+ I think one would benefit more from swapping the head unit.

 

Probably from a functional standpoint. Some (like me) are fixated on keeping the oem look.

 

Replacing the head unit is definitely an option, but as Rush T said I like to keep things as OEM as I can which is why I installed the CarPlay module from Hamilton Motor Company and it has been perfect in my 2017 OR. I have absolutely zero complaints and their customer service is five star.

 

So the Hamilton version is better than car sync tech as it's a few more $. How is the resolution and speed? I do like your guys thoughts on retaining the OE look. The 2020-2023 OEM hear units ranges from 500 used take off and then the convert hearness is around 200 now. So 700-800 vs Hamilton 400 or car sync tech 350.

Hamilton might be for the win??

 

I posted a photo of my CarPlay screen and it appears to me that resolution is excellent. I've only had the CarPlay module since February, but cannot detect any difference in speed between it and OEM. But then again I am very old. I also believe that Hamilton offers everyone the $50 welcome discount which reduces the price. Hope you enjoy it.

Yes…I have the Hamilton Motor Company CarPlay module and couldn’t be more pleased. I’m listening to KSLT Radio right now on TuneIn and it is crystal clear with no pauses or lags…just music. If you get the Hamilton unit I’m sure you will be pleased. My rig is a 2017 TRD OR.

 

I just bought in my super white for the paint recall and they gave me 24 Corolla loaner and it had apple play and looks like your pic. It's ok as in speed but not snappy like a phone which is ok. I think I'll pull the trigger once I get my rig back for the Hamilton version addon. At first I didn't really care as I connect via Bluetooth to play music but after a while and the loaner. Carplay is good to have
