Something I meant to post a while ago.

Being in the parts industry as long as I have, you get to know a lot of people.

Here's a list of garages I recommend for general auto repair & maintenance if ever needed.

    Volsar Automotive - Medford, MA
Richie's Service Center - Medford, MA
Grey Patti Automotive - Arlington, MA
    Bill's Auto - Woburn, MA
    Burke's Auto - Woburn, MA
    Leary Auto - Bedford, MA
Rilo's Auto - North Reading, MA
    Allman's Auto - Groveland, MA
Hatheway Auto Service - Salisbury, MA
    Gray's Garage - Salisbury, MA
Harry's Auto Repair - Salisbury, MA
    Forrest Auto - Wilmington, MA
Phil & Sons - Newburyport, MA
Midas - Newburyport, MA (the singular time I'll ever recommend a chain - owner & tech are awesome)
    Autolab - Nashua, NH
    Gurney's - Nashua, NH
    Modern Auto - Tyngsboro, MA

Anybody know what the thread is of the 4 front bolts that go in for the ifs skid. Diagrams I'm looking at come up empty.

Sister skid plate. Which removes the support brackets of the factory skid

I’m familiar with a few on your list but Modern auto is a hard pass for me. I won’t even take my vehicles there for inspections and they are one of the closest with the best hours yet have screwed up and over and over. Cowgill down the road is a step up. At least a little more honest with decent mechanics. Most at Modern are at best “YouTube certified”

edited to say they are directly responsible for mod days being a thing

Afternoon, first time in this thread. My back went out last year so I’m looking for a shop to install a couple Toyota specific parts that people usually do themselves, ECGS Bushing and Energy Suspension steering rack bushings.

First shop I talked to seemed great but after 10 days of messaging and phone tag I still don’t have a date

Second shop asked about rust so I mentioned that truck has WoolWax and they won’t work on it unless it’s completely removed… I guess they don’t get many 2nd gen tacomas then lol

Any recommendations for those two parts, an alignment and tires? Any part of NE minus Maine is fair game. Thanks

I use a local shop for alignments but I think so guys have gone to a shop in NH

Completely remove wool wax? Yeesh, i can't imagine what effort that entails. That's a new one.

Huh, that's the first time I've ever heard a bad word about Modern.

They were my #1 customer by a wide margin when I was running NAPA in Nashua (over $300K in business in 2024 after returns) & their shop was run very well.

Not doubting you, though. Everyone's experience is different.

M12X1.25. If you need one in a pinch these things are held on with the same size bolt.

I think you are right about them being 17's. Not that special, just JIS...

Not exxaclty sure what length you need but 25-30 should be fine

I should probably get to know JIS more, I typically just...ignore its existence. Not something I need - owning a Japanese vehicle and all.
