Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
lol true..but the same can be said at certain civilian jobs as well. we had more than qualified folks get stuck at E-8 while the political players got E-9. we've got 2-3 E-8/9s retiring this year after hitting 60 y/o and 40+ years of service. i guess i must play the game well since i put on E-6 at 6 1/2 years...that or the others just suck REALLY bad...lol

Lol My dad just retired March last year, after turning 60 and 40 1/2 years! He spent the first 8-10 years (not sure exactly) on AD, then joined the Guard in Willow Grove. He retired as Chief, but didn't even get that until late 2006 since the Chiefs before him stuck around so long. When I first joined, I had the idea to kind of do the same, but I'm not so sure anymore. I'll have to wait until my time comes in another 3 1/2 years and see how I feel.

Ahh that sucks, after reading the stuff above i think i wanna stay away from the guard. It had crossed my mind a couple of times but i dont think i really get any other benefits from it .
I would have stayed in but they kept throwing me in crappy stations and I got denied my retrain package at AFPC so i said to hell with it. I got a line number for E5 2 months before my DOS... i caught alot of shit for it but i tried to refuse the test and my commander made me take it.
