Well The oven is finished. I installed the recirculating fan and duct work. Got it all insulated. Now that the oven is done it was time to start getting the wife’s scooter, monkey and Klx ready for the riding season. Put the wife’s scooter up on the lift for an engine oil change, gear oil, spark plug inspection, air cleaner inspection and tire pressure check. The bike was dead so I had to charge it up for a bit. Her bike is all ready to go.
Now the monkey is on the lift getting its battery charged up. That will get a full service also. I will also do a brake fluid flush this time.
The Klx will be next up for an oil, filter and chain adjustment . That’s all it needs
The GSXR and Harley are all ready to go so no maintenance needed at this time.
After I get the bikes done I can move on to getting some parts blasted and try out my new oven.

Me too. We had a warm spell and I had the audacity to think about bringing the bike home from the storage unit..... we got thumped with about 8 inches of snow in about 36 hours yesterday and the day before. It's warmer today and it's melting, but I'm trying to not even consider the bike until June. :annoyed:

I was being a bit dramatic with the June bit, but living here I've personally witnessed snow in every month of the year except August. The only reason I didn't see snow in August was because I left the state for about 6 months and that was the year August got it.

well I now know what I am powder coating first. I had plasti dipped my wheels on the monkey a couple years ago. Well when doing my chain maintenance I cleaned it with kerosene. The kerosene pretty much melted the plasti dip off. I had planned to do the wheels at some point but now is some point. Just ordered new wheel bearings. I am going to do a few other parts on the monkey also.
I did take it for a rip around the neighborhood after finishing the maintenance. Man this bike is fun. Had about 6 kids screaming “nice bike” I like your bike” and waving. lol

Small bikes rule. I'm hoping to get my buddies Grom up and running again this weekend so him and I can go be hooligans around town. I haven't ridden mine for at least six or seven months.

We have plans to turn this school parking lot into a mini circuit

Groms are easy to race. Hold them wide open and use the brakes, lol

Damn all I needed to do is take the Klx out for a ride and all thoughts of selling are gone. It’s just too much fun.

    This has been a week!

Started out early Tuesday morning towards Austin.
    IMG_6965.jpg
    IMG_0409.png

Spent the night in El Paso and arrived in Austin Wednesday evening. Got situated for the night and it started to rain. This became a theme for the weekend IMG_6984.jpg

Got to spend the second practice session in the LCRHonda garage. Not something many get to see in real life. It was incredible to watch these guys work. The speed and efficiency was almost like it was choreographed. The mechanics swapped out the full suspension in Zarco’s bike (from wet setup to dry) in a matter of about 5 min. Unfortunately, Johan crashed while pushing for a time that would lock him into Q2.

The rest of the weekend sort of flew by.

    There was racing

    There was dancing

    And some amazing Texas sunsets
    IMG_7111.jpg

The races are always fun, but all I could think about all weekend was this moment.

The morning got off to a rocky start with a red flag in the first A group session and a blown motor with oil down the back straight on the warmup lap of the first B group session. Luckily none of us slows in the C group made asses of ourselves.

I made a couple of friends between session and had my tank trim piece signed by Marco Bezzecchi who rides for Aprilia’s factory team! It’s a pretty unique experience to be able to rub elbows with the big wigs the day after the race. Even the MotoGP team boss was out riding the demo bikes.

With the highs of the weekend having worn off, the drive home was a fuckin nightmare with fatigue, dust storms, the 10 being closed/detoured and some rain. I’m glad to be home and will not be trailering my bike that far ever again.
