if you're talking about filling with zero deg washer fluid, that's not the same as a pure methanol & distilled water mix. Will eventually clog up your system and is a pretty diluted mix.

    Agree.

I buy a 5 gallon pale of M5 from VP Racing and mix with water as needed. I first did 50/50 then ended up switching to 75 meth to 25 water ratio.

Supposedly there is a place near me where I can pick up pure meth and mix as I like but I've been getting bye with bottles of heat (yellow) and R/O water.

proof of clogging? I know there's a tiny % of additives but unless you're letting the system dry out idk why it would clog up. Most sources say its about a 30/70 mix meth:water

I did a cost breakdown a couple years ago and it was 77 a 5 gal of M3, picked up. Don't remember why I switched to the Amazon stuff, but might have to reevaluate that next time I need to buy if there's a spot I can get it nearby.

No personal experience, but heard reports of it from my research across other forums.
Here are some notes I took back when I was researching it:
    ----------
Storage is important. Methanol evaporates as it absorbes water

You can also use HEET(gas line antifreeze) it is pure meth and is a great booster.

You can also use rubbing alcohol (isopropanol) it's expensive though as in weight.

And again denatured alcohol or Plain water(Distilled water) Dont use tap water. Tap water contains to many minerals and will clog your system over time.

    (for mixing HEET)
Basic mixing instructions are as follows. Take for example 1 gallon of negative -20 degree below zero blue windshield washer fluid, which is approximately 30% methanol 70% water. By adding four 12oz bottles of Heet, to the one gallon of windshield washer fluid will give you a 50/50 mix of water and methanol.

Quick note. Do not use the pink washer fluid from WalMarts Or the Green washer fluid
    ----------
Personally I just wouldn't wanna use the washer fluid route due to the other contents in it and system longevity. You get a way cleaner and more powerful burn anyways with a pure meth and water mix.

What supplier do you get yours from? Called around to some auto parts stores that are listed as VP retailers and nowhere seems to have the 5gal of VP stuff.

proper storage of methanol is vital to prolong its life. I may be wrong, but what I do is keep the meth in the original metal can versus pouring it in a plastic container. I placed on the shelf and not directly on the ground, stored in the garage and out of direct sunlight. I use a black sheet to cover the container as well. A don’t boost much with the heavy tires when driving in town so a 5 gallon will last me a year. Yes, a year is a long time but I felt the meth is still pretty good. No foul smell or anything like that. At the same time, I figure I move from a 50/50 mixture to a 75/25 to consume meth faster.

yea but what I’m getting at is the 5 gallon is available so I’m not sure why the vendors you’re calling are saying otherwise.

try to have them order it?

That was my first thought, but couldn't confirm it

Methanol mix is cost prohibitive when I already have an IC. If what you're saying holds water (pun intended), I would just run straight distilled water to lower combustion temps where it matters. Otherwise adding $10-20 of methanol each time I fill the gas tank (I've heard about a gallon of meth mix per tank) overcomes the ~$0.75/gal difference between 87 and 91

I've run at least 100 gallons and have not had issues. I also have a pickup filter and the filter in the injector. It's probably not the ideal mixture but bang for buck it's better then water. It's also nice for long trips as you can quickly souce it anywhere. My only concern is long term it damaging the cat all though I haven't seen any signs yet.

Lots of talk of meth injection here...I just have the 7th injector kit. Only light pinging for a second as engine load increases right before the transmission downshifts at highway speeds. It's pretty easy to avoid this situation though. When I can tell that the engine is going to downshift, a little increased pressure on the accelerator will get the trans to drop down a gear before getting to the point at which it pings. I was thinking that driving in ECT PWR might eliminate this entirely, but I haven't tried that yet. I don't drive my Tacoma hardly ever anymore. One of these days I'll attempt to modify the tune to have a smoother transition between open and closed loops as well. Sometimes it feels like a turbo kicking in when it changes over.

Yeah whats up with that? IMO its not attributable to just air fuel changes, it seems more like a big shift in timing. I've gotten it to be around 11.8 before and after the transition and still that surge like vtec or a spool up. I need to do some kind of composite log of both OBDII data and the EMU data (with air fuel being fed into it).
