Have you looked at the change log for the new fire control? Assuming change logs are still a thing.

I am curious what would make the new version cut differently with the same settings as the previous version. Have you seen anyone else on the langmuir forum post the same issue?

I spoke to Langmuir directly, as early as noon after having done some cutting and troubleshooting of my own.

Figured I'd rather have tons of detailed information to share, before even posing my question.

The latest version of Firecontrol aimed at two things - rectifying the issue with Ryzen processors having errors with Firecontrol, and adding features not available on older versions.

But outside of that, nothing should technically be different which I 100% agree with - the G code I created is the relevant information needed, and all Firecontrol does is read it as it stands.

    Which is why I'm stumped.

Sorry I don't know what 'change logs' are, unless you're referring to specifics on what they changed in their software. Most I could get is what I provided above.

They keep Firecontrol under tight wraps not allowing anyone any way to backdoor it at all since they use their own proprietary controller for it and all.

That is what I was refering to. I have not looked in recent years. But there used to be a text file. Usually name something like "change.log" and it would list every version from the earliest Alpha or Beta to the most recent. An would usually list new features and bug fixes to previous versions.

Langmuir needs to send you some free stuff. Your detailed troubleshooting an documentation has to be a major help to them and there user base

I'd just like to try out a new table, something different and more robust. :burp:

Is it possible to compare g-codes to see whats different?

I’m not familiar with your software though

So the G code itself can't be compared because it can't be altered, if that makes sense. It's the same file just run through two different versions of the same software that reads the code.

I can send you the file or post it here, but to summarize the above test showed better results with the old version (using a different computer) than the same file on a newer version.

I was doing some googling this morning just out of curiosity since all my g-code knowledge is CNC mill . I didn't realize fire control is essentially just the machine controller.
Is it possible to try the new version on a different computer to verify its the software itself?

What file type is your g-code programs saved as?

I could do that, sometime next week.

I'm not touching my table for a few days. I just don't/can't use the other laptop for the garage.

    It'll get wrecked easily.

As for the file, it's an NC file so pretty common.

My assumption is that the newer FC could be messing with my cut height even though I measured a physical distance of .06" as mentioned above.

I'll need to create new G code with different cut heights to see if either provide the intended result IE great cuts like I had as recent as a few days ago.

Yeah just to try. I’ve had issues in the past with remnants of old mastercam versions messing with new versions.

If it’s just an NC file you can open and edit them in notepad.
Not the most ideal app but it works in a pinch.

    Yep!

It'll actually take longer opening it in Notepad, altering height, saving, and reloading than it would be to create 4 different files each named for its cut height.

Me and just touchscreens don't play well

I should cut a larger laptop mount so I can use a mouse to rectify that.

Sweet. I have a Bridgeport and want to get a lathe. I have the Bridgeport on a vfd and I’ll probably do the same for the lathe

All I had on hand was a small 2HP VFD. I bought this from a tech school swapping out systems. The instructor told me they are sensitive to spikes, mainly the digital readout. I figured with the rotary converter setup it would be a little more efficient and balanced for the machines. The idler is large enough to split duties between a couple or even three machines. I don’t think I will be able to get a mill until I build a shop. I’m pretty much out of room.
